Renewed Vigor

True to her word, Dewlight had requested to go out on an extra hunting patrol. Loonwhisper had granted her request, warning her to be on the lookout for any threats, and Dewlight wasn't entirely sure what he meant until she stepped away from the safety of the camp for the first time in her entire life alone. Normally at least two Asylum cats had flanked her, let alone her Clanmates. The territory was so quiet without the constant patrolling of the strange cats that had disappeared as quickly as they had appeared, and if she was honest Dewlight was unnerved by it. She had never experienced RiverClan's lad without someone, whether it be her mother teaching her to swim, or Stream tail teaching her to hunt and fish, or the Asylum cats trailing her every movement. In uncomfortable silence the she-cat made her way towards the Beech Copse, occasionally checking the sky overhead and the area around her for threats. She hoped she wouldn't come across anything.

By the time she reached the sparse trees, she had relaxed considerably. Her Clanmates were home, safe and sound, and things would be alright. It probably would never quite be the same, but isn't that how things went? The river was never the same river, the sky was never the same sky. As new leaf approached excited news of new litters soon to come to the clan was spread, and already new growth could be seen among the dried reeds of the riverbed. She had never seen new leaf, and the young she-cat was beyond excited by the idea. More to explore and experience, and she wanted to see it all. Settling at the roots of a nearby tree, she waited for the area around her to calm down again, and the prey to start to return once more. She should have been more careful about her approach, but... Well, it was nice to sit in the sunshine and just listen to the river as it continued on its path, and the rustle of the branches overhead. Finally, a soft chittering caught her attention, and her eyes focused on a bird that had landed nearby, pecking at the ground. She waited just long enough to calculate her jump before leaping, and as her claws pierced feathers she swiftly killed the bird and thanked StarClan. Storing it away carefully, she returned to her waiting spot.
