Primroselight was happy to be back on warrior duties now that her shoulder was in better shape, but she Beechface had made her promise that she would be as careful as possible; once her joint had popped out of place and been reset, it would dislocate again much more easily. She knew she couldn't keep that promise forever, but she would at least for the next few sunrises. Life under Asylum rule was strange - she could always feel them watching her, tracking her every move, just like everyone else. She was still struggling to get over Dawnhawk's betrayal. He may've done what he did to benefit the clan, but no-one else saw it that way. She was sure on one thing, however: the traitorous tom was not part of the family any more. Even though she was a sweet, forgiving cat, she wasn't stupid. She felt hurt that he had started to make a difference, to open up about his worries and issues more, but now everything had changed. She didn't want to ever smell his scent or hear his voice again.
But there was no point in lying around camp sulking. She might as well make herself useful. After all, leaf-bare was approaching quickly, and soon the clan would be short of food, even with the proposed help from Asylum. Maybe Smokefeather would be the best cat to hunt with. She was very close with her mother, and she needed to talk to her. "Hey, mum?" She asked as she anticipated her old mentor's approach. "Are you free to go hunting? We'd probably have to find an Asylum cat to go with us..." She remembered, trailing off slightly as she did so. She had forgotten about that issue. Since Dawnhawk was technically an Asylum member now, they could ask him and make it like a normal family hunting patrol, but he was the last cat she wanted to be with. "Is there anyone around that doesn't look too busy?" She asked Smokefeather. With so many cats in and around camp, she often felt as she had when they were sheltering in Riverclan. There was too many cats to keep track of, to scent and hear their whereabouts, leaving all her senses feel muddled.

Smokefeather's tail twitched in agitation as she spotted the fresh-kill pile nearly empty, a flash of dark irritation crossing her face as she spied one of the rogue cats picking at a bird near the edge of camp. Gray-green eyes scanned the clearing in search of her own clanmates, looking to cajole one or two into going hunting with her. Her gaze softened as it landed on the soft form of Primroselight, and Smokefeather padded over.
"Hey, Prim." Smokefeather mewed, gently brushing her tail along her daughter's flank. Before she could say much else, her daughter spoke, asking to hunt. Despite herself, Smokefeather smiled. Of course Primroselight would want to go hunting.
"Let's go. They'll follow us regardless. We have no choice." Her tone was acidic, anger evident in every word. She turned to lead her daughter out of camp, and true to form a pair of the strange, pelt-wearing rogues seemed to materialize from the shadows to trail after them.
"How are you?" She asked softly, mindful of the very-much-unwanted company trailing behind them as they made their way through the ashen forest together.

"I mean we've all been better I guess. My shoulder's definitely feeling a lot better, but I'm sure if I stay away from the trees I'll be alright." At least she was sure of one thing - she would never let her feet leave the ground for more than a few seconds ever again. Her words were a little more vague and accepting than they would've been if it weren't for the Asylum cats following them. They didn't say anything the whole time, but Primroselight was painfully aware of them behind her. From their paw steps to the feeling of their breath on her tail, she hated it. However, if she asked to walk behind instead of infront, they might think her and Smokefeather were trying to trick them into something. So she just padded on, waiting to find a good spot to hunt.
Before long, they made it to the creek where she had had her first training session. This was one of the few places where she had caught a glimpse of something through the constant darkness she was submerged in, so she always enjoyed being here. But it did remind her of the Moonstone. As far as she knew, it now lay abandoned, with none of the clans allowed to visit it under Asylum rule.
Primroselight scented the air to search for traces of prey. The scent of quail caught her attention, causing her ears to prick up. Very carefully, she crept towards it, distracted slightly by the prickling of her pelt as she felt Asylum eyes on her. She pounced and landed well, all her hard work of the previous moons of training paying off. Maybe hunting had gotten better recently, despite them going into leaf bare, or maybe her extra effort was giving her this luck.
Primroselight used 3 SP to catch a quail. Catch was successful! 127/130

Soon enough they reached the creek, and Smokefeather fell silent once Primroselight had given her an answer. She worried for her daughter, but she would not lecture her in front of these strange cats.
A nod of approval as the young warrior quickly caught a quail, and Smokefeather turned to find her own prey. She wouldn't stray far from Primroselight however, she didn't trust the rogues at all, and would rather stay near her daughter in case they tried anything.
Spotting a small sparrow, Smokefeather slowly crept toward the bird. She pushed off the ground when she was near enough, paws landing squarely on the bird's wings. She killed it swiftly, turning to bury it with the quail that Primroselight had caught. All the while, the rogues watched in silence, stony expressions unnervingly trained on the two Skyclanners.

Primroselight was starting to enjoy the hunt, trying her best to block out the Asylum cats just staring at them, on guard in case something happened. She was just hunting with her mother, in normal situations. Although, now that she thought about it, had her life ever been normal? So soon after being made an apprentice, they had had to evacuate. When they had eventually returned to their own territory, they had been terrorised non-stop by the foxes. And then there was Asylum. She tried to stop thinking about how much of a mess everything was, otherwise she would never catch anything.
During her stillness, a mouse made the mistake of coming too close to her. She clumsily slammed her paw down on it, but she didn't move quickly enough for the little rodent. It scuttled away, and she could swear that even its paw-steps sounded smug. Now she was very aware of the Asylum eyes on her, how she had missed an easy catch like that.
But her annoyance didn't last long. Porcupine. She had never encountered one before, but she recognised it by the rattling of its spines as it approached her. "Mum! Porcupi-" She completely expected for it to go after her, but instead it whacked Smokefeather with its long tail, almost making the older she-cat loose her balance completely. Angry that it had messed with her mother and not her, Primroselight kicked it hard in the side, sending it away, giving the two of them some time to prepare.

Smokefeather had turned to find her own prey, while Primroselight had gone after a mouse. Her daughter's cry made her whirl around in alarm, fully expecting the rogues to have tried something. What she got instead were porcupine quills, and they hurt.
She lunged forward, twisting and gripping the creature by the back of the neck, claws raining furious blows down on the porcupine. She couldn't attack the rogues, but the porcupine was fair game.
Smokefeather used Teeth Grip on Porcupine for -20sp, dealing -12 damage. Teeth gripped for TWO turns and can only use front paw moves.

Primroselight could tell that her mother was unleashing all her pent-up anger and frustration on the spiny predator. It might not have been the best way to cope with things, but it was better than her attacking one of the rouges who they shared their camp with. Smokefeather held the porcupine, and so she quickly slipped under it and raked at its belly. She scrambled up a again, preparing for an attack to be launched on her, but nothing came. The porcupine was too caught up in fighting the older warrior that it had barely noticed her.

((OOC: this post is technically the start of turn 2 teeth grip lol, also yay half-hp))
Smokefeather shifted her grip slightly, continuing to claw at the porcupine furiously. She really, really wished it was one of the rogues instead, but for now, she'd be content with the predator in front of them. It was growing weaker, but Smokefeather also knew that she couldn't hold the beast much longer. There were quills stuck in her shoulder, and she hoped that it would run rather than try to embed more of them into her fur.
The rogues watched from a safe distance rather than help, but that was fine. Smokefeather and Primroselight could handle themselves.
Smokefeather continued to use Teeth Grip on Porcupine. Porcupine may only use front paw moves.

(ooc: oh yeah! I fixed it )
Primroselight felt the porcupine weaken under her and Smokefeather's claws, each blow making it regret attacking them more and more. The warrior reared up on her legs and slashed at it more, careful not to accidentally catch her mother's foreleg or face. Blood scented the air, part of it the spiny beast's, the other Smokefeather's. Even though it was now doing worse, its first (and so far only) attack had hurt the older warrior. Primroselight reckoned that it if the porcupine could escape, it would, but for now it was trapped in her mother's teeth.
"Wait mum," she said, backing away a few kit-steps, "Just let it go. I'm about ninety percent sure that it will run away." This was an easy way out, and if Primroselight could avoid prolonging a battle, then she would.
Primroselight used Rear-up to Slash on Porcupine, costing 10 SP and dealing 11 damage

Smokefeather's grip weakened, but so did the porcupine. She took a step back, then reared up and brought her front paws down onto the back of the thing's head where her teeth had been moments before, then stepped back as well. She'd rather kill the thing, but maybe, just maybe Primroselight was right.
"How nice of the rogues to sit and watch." She growled, though she didn't take her eyes off of the porcupine. If it went after Primroselight instead of running, she was going to kill it, regardless of her daughter's wishes. She was too angry to truly notice how badly injured her shoulder was, though she did register that there was blood running and a multitude of quills embedded in her skin. For the moment at least, adrenaline kept her from truly feeling the wounds.
Smokefeather used Upright Lock on Porcupine for -25sp, dealing -16 damage.

Primroselight let Smokefeather have one final blow before waiting for the porcupine to flee. Just as she had predicted, after it took a few moments to steady itself after having its skull bashed, the little spiny creature scurried away, regretting its decision to pick on the two fully-fledged warriors. "If they were meant to protect us and didn't, what was the point in them coming?" She asked, sounding very unlike her usual cheery self. But her brother betraying the whole of Skyclan and having to share her camp with what felt like hundreds of strangers had pushed her to her wits' end. She may've been more tolerant than many, but she wasn't happy all of the time, despite what some cats seemed to think.
"Is your shoulder alright?" Primroselight asked, realising the rouges were probably listening in on their conversation. "You should really get it checked over." The smell of blood was still in the air, although it had weakened without the defeated porcupine nearby.
