Amberpaw's Warrior Ceremony

In the days following Maplewhisker's appointment as deputy, Olivestar found that things were easing up a little, knowing that there was another capable cat helping her lead the Clan. The fog that had laid over the moor had finally lifted, leaving the air clear, yet still cold, and the leader was thankful that her coat was thickening as the days grew ever colder. She, too, was thankful that more of the Clan's apprentices were becoming warriors, and today was no exception, as Clearstone has told her that Amberpaw was ready to become a full warrior of the Clan.

She climbed up the steep path to the top of the Tallrock, the cold stone stinging her pawpads, the new name for the warrior-to-be on her tongue. The sun's weak warmth managed to dispel some of the Tallrock's chill, and for that, she was glad. She took a moment to feel the chilly breeze against her face, and looked down to see her Clanmates milling about, and the cat in question for the day's ceremony was with them.

With a deep breath, she called out the familiar summons.
"May all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock!"

Hearing Olivestar's call, Amberpaw trotted forward and took a seat near the crowd, though a small distance apart. She knew a Deputy ceremony had passed some time ago, and she also knew that it should be about time for her own Warrior Ceremony.

It was particularly cold today, Amberpaw noted, but her slightly longer fur served as protection against the cold. She fluffed her fur out, knowing it made her look silly but appreciative of the protection she got from the chilly winds.

Amberpaw spotted Clearstone a short distance away. She wasn't the happiest with her Mentor, considering that she had done more learning on her own than with him, but she decided to not hold it against him since she was perfectly fine anyways.

A small smile crossed Olivestar's face as she watched the crowd of her Clanmates grow beneath her, and she saw Amberpaw join them, sitting below and looking up at the leader standing above. This was one of the gray she-cat's favorite duties, and she was glad to perform this ceremony today.

Once she was satisfied with the size of the crowd, she continued.
"Amberpaw, step forward."

She gave the cat in question time to respond before speaking once more.
"I, Olivestar of WindClan, ask my fellow Clanmates to look upon this apprentice. She’s trained hard to understand our ways, and I commend her to you as a warrior in return. Amberpaw, do you promise to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Amberpaw blinked. Ah, so it was her ceremony. Not particularly surprising, considering her age. Amberpaw pushed away a small grin of excitement and made her way towards Olivestar, nudging those in her way aside. She had to keep her posture, keep her silence and cold look in front of everyone else.

As Olivestar spoke, Amberpaw fought to fight back the excitement welling up in her chest. It's just a name, why are you so excited? She told herself-yet even she herself knew it was more than a name. It was an honour, a sign of her status as a true warrior of the clan.

"I do."

A rush of pride swept though Olivestar as Amberpaw took her vow without even the slightest of hesitation. She noticed the apprentice's small smile, and the leader mirrored it with her own, speaking the final words of the ceremony.
"Then by the approval of my Clanmates, I give you your warrior name. From this moment on, you will be known as Amberfluff. We honor your intelligence and the calm manner in which you use it to serve the Clan, and I am proud to welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan.”

She then jumped down to ground level, and began the ceremonial chant.
"Amberfluff! Amberfluff! Amberfluff!"

Amberfluff… The she-cat gave a small sigh mentally, knowing that with that kind of name, the first impression she would give would be a very cute feeling. What kind of person would take her seriously now?

Ah, well. What mattered was that she now had a Warrior name, and she was officially a part of WindClan! Although, calm manner...hah. Calmness and not showing emotions are 2 very different things, not that she's going to say it.

The she-cat raised her head, opting to enjoy it while she could.
