Quailpaw's Moonstone Journey

It was a decently pleasant morning, the forest was covered in a dense fog, but the sunshine peeking over the horizon promised to burn it away quickly. Mossbloom emerged from the medicine cat den once more, carrying a bundle of herbs she knew by heart and could pull together in her sleep, but the chilly night had made her right hind leg a little stiff. Hopefully some walking around would loosen it quickly. Approaching the apprentice den with her slight limp, she quickly found Quailpaw's nest and gently prodded him awake. "Good morning, Quailpaw. Today is the day we journey to the Moonstone. I'll meet you by the entrance to camp when you're ready, okay?" She mewed, making sure the tom was awake before turning to wait by the camp's entrance.

In all honesty Quailpaw was pretending to sleep. With the death of his friend still hurting, and his sister was missing too, and to top it all there were missing kits. How could anyone sleep?


Quailpaw flicked his ear in surprise when he heard Mossbloom prodding him. Moonstone journey huh? Guess it was only a matter of time. The dark grey tabby apprentice slowly got unto his paws, stretching out after laying for so long. He let out a soft yawn before padding out of the den and towards the entrance. "Hey Mossbloom." He said sleepily. "I'm ready."

Mossbloom tilted her head at the apprentice's sleepy voice, concern shining in her eyes. "Did you not sleep well, Quailpaw?" She asked, pushing his bundle of herbs in front of him. "The herbs are a bit bitter, but the taste doesn't last long." She mewed, waiting for him to finish eating the herbs before leading the way out of the camp. If the apprentice was having trouble sleeping, perhaps they could help a bit. Everyone was under a lot of stress since the disappearance of the kits, but they all needed all the energy they could get.

~Time Skip~

The journey was a long one, but they finally made it. The pair stood at Mothermouth and Mossbloom turned to the apprentice. "When we reach the cavern, you will press your nose to the Moonstone. I'll be waiting for you to wake, and we can return to camp. If you have any questions, please let me know." She purred, motioning for him to follow her as she disappeared into the darkness, making her way to the Moonstone. After what seemed like a moon but also the blink of an eye, they reached the cavern, the Moonstone glimmering brightly in the moonlight. Settling along the wall, she waited for Quailpaw to get settled.

"No I got enough sleep." Quailpaw lied, as he licked up the disgusting herbs. He then followed Mossbloom out of camp.

Quailpaw's paws were aching by the time they reached Mothermouth and walked through the cavern. The space was rather tight but once Quailpaw squeezed through, he soon that it was worth it. The shine of moonstone wowed him as padded closer to it. It looked so pretty. He laid down as he contuined looking up at it before touching his nose to the cold rock. He winced back before he laid on the ground. Maybe I'll get a good rest out of this. Quailpaw thought, as his eyes closed and he started drifting off to sleep.

Quailpaw opened his eyes when he saw the starry terrian. This looks nice. Its really warm too. The apprentice walked around about, enjoying the warmth of the new terrian.

"Congratulations, you're in the stars now. Too real to be true? Are you just purely enlightened? What an experience, talking to ghosts, eh?" A starry figure materialised behind the tom, pitchy voice stirring the atmosphere. The she-cat's tone was brisk, blunt and brusque. Her interest in this interaction was painted plainly on her face — that was, nonexistant. "Aspenpaw. And you're Pigeonpaw. Or Duckpaw? I don't give a rat's tail." Whether she was consciously applying a frigid demeanor to intimidate Quailpaw, or to tug on his nerves for no reason other than boredom, or if this exasperated abrasiveness was just her everyday face... really, no one would know.

Quailpaw jumped up when he heard Aspenpaw behind him. Who was this? A starclan cat? Pfft theres no way. Starclan isn't real. But as Aspenpaw kept talking, Quailpaw found himself realizing. That Starclan was real. Sorta.

"Wait if your a Starclan cat does this mean your stuck in the moonstone? Also my name is Quailpaw." Asked Quailpaw, tilting his head at the starry apprentice.
