Lilackit's Apprentice Ceremony

Wildflower's stomach churned as she edged towards the Tallrock. Her thoughts wandered as her paws tugged her up the path. Dandelionpaw, or maybe just Dandelion now, had been reunited with her mother - and her Twolegs - two sunrises ago. The deputy still felt the loss deep and bitter, but duties couldn't be neglected because of her feelings. Lilackit had reached the six-moon mark and was in need of a mentor. Wildflower still had yet to train an apprentice, and she had picked herself out as the new mentor for the energetic kit. "Let all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting." Her voice was a little unsteady, but she tried to force away her emotions for the sake of Lilackit.

Lilackit raced to the foot of the tallrock, filled with energy. Basically her usual. She loved attending meetings, they were so much fun! She got to hear all of the news, and she felt so important! It was like she was a warrior already, getting in on every discussion, sometimes even giving her own two-sense on topics, although her input typically wasn't welcome.

But today was an even more exciting meeting! She was finally 6 moons old! This meeting was for her! Or, she thought it was, at least. Was it for her? It would be really embarrassing if it wasn't and she just raced to the front of the crowd for no reason. But it had to be for her!

In her excitement, she failed to notice her tabby fur sticking out in tufts. She quickly turned around, grooming the messy pelt down like she had seen other kits do. Oh, this was so exciting!

“Lilackit," Wildflower addressed the clearly excited kit, "step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day onward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Lilacpaw. Your mentor will be me." No one could replace Dandelionkit, she knew, but her grief wouldn’t stop her from contributing to her Clan as a mentor. Wildflower ran down the rocks and smiled at Lilacpaw warmly.

As her name was called, Lilackit eagerly stood up, her tail held high. Her muscles were a little tense, as she was quite nervous in this moment. So this is it, huh? I'm finally becoming an apprentice! What am I supposed to do? Do I smile? Do I try to look serious and keep a straight face? In the end, Lilackit went for a rather awkward half smile. Why do other kits make this look so easy!

As she was granted her new name, she spun in joy, forgetting all formalities. She even had the deputy as her mentor! "Yayy! This is the best day ever!" she squealed, before remembering the Clan was watching her. Quickly composing herself, Lilacpaw dipped her head, then touched her nose in greeting to her new mentor. This was going to be so much fun!
