Beechpaw followed her mentor through the unfamiliar territory, glancing around at their surroundings thoughtfully. The open, grassy area was broken up by shallow pools of water, if they could be called that. Some were little more than mud, others barely reached her dewclaws. A scant few were deeper, yet none of them passed her belly fur.
As her mentor had done the first time they'd gone on a hunt and on the long trek back to the forest, he listed off herbs as the two cats passed them, and Beechpaw listened and focused on remembering their appearances and their uses. Unfamiliar as the territory was, it offered a chance for Beechpaw to learn some of the herbs that were less common on Skyclan's own territory. The tall silver-tabby and white apprentice still had her misgivings, but if this was the path she was on, she'd follow it. If she could find something useful out here, maybe she actually had a chance as a medicine cat.

Sagelight made no moves to hide the fact that he was just as unfamiliar with RiverClan territory as his apprentice. Spiderquill and his apprentice were busy tending to the cats back in the RiverClan camp, so the SkyClan medicine cat figured this would be a good of a time as any to give Beechpaw a lesson in herbs. He proceeded through the territory cautiously, keeping his eyes and nose out for anything they could find.
Now that SkyClan was safe for the time being, Sagelight could focus on getting his strength back up and getting Beechpaw trained in case anything as tragic as the fire happened again. He was unprepared, they were all unprepared, but the older medicine cat couldn't help but feel as if he didn't do enough anyway. At least we have four extra paws to help tend to the wounded, he thought to himself, thinking about Spiderquill and his apprentice. Taking a moment to ruffle his fur against the soft wind that blew, he looked around at the area they were in and then at Beechpaw. "I guess this is a good of a place as any to search for things," he meowed, flicking his tail. "Let's split up here, but don't move too far away. If you find something, holler at me and I'll come take a look. In the meantime..." The pointed tom trailed off, trotting a couple foxlengths away to start sniffing for herbs.
As he wandered, he wasn't quite paying attention to where he was going and flinched back when something brushed across his face. Squinting, it took him a moment to recognize the fronds draping down in front of him were from a willow tree. There weren't many willow trees on SkyClan territory, and Sagelight regarded it with a purr of amusement before stripping some of the leaves from the branch with his teeth. Once he had gathered plenty, he took the small pile in his mouth and padded back to where he had begun and dropped the leaves on the ground. He then raised his head, scanning the area briefly for Beechpaw. "How's it going over there, find anything yet?"

"Alright," She mewed, dark eyes sweeping over the area with curiosity. Her paws itched to go exploring, but the apprentice ignored the urge. She could do that later. They were here to find herbs, after all. Beechpaw would focus, she had to.
Sniffing, the large she-cat moved in a slow, careful circle. Beneath the scents of grass and earth and prey, there were herbs. She just... had... to...
There.
The plant had yellow and white flowers, and Beechpaw carefully sniffed at it, searching her memory for the name of the plant. Foxdung. Sagelight had mentioned this one, too.
"Sagelight!" She called over to her mentor with a wave of her fluffy tail, "I found... Something..." Oh great starclan, what was it... Colt... Something. Coltsfoot? That sounded right in her head.
