Amberkit's Apprentice Ceremony

In the wake of the SkyClan fire, Olivestone had spent some of her spare time keeping an eye out on the border for the missing Clan, hoping to have good news to give to Foxfire at the next Gathering. She felt bad for the poor tom and his Clan, and hoped that they would return soon.
That was just one of the things on her mind as she went about her duties as deputy, more pressing matters being that she had a ceremony to conduct. There were several new arrivals in camp, and Olivestone was always overjoyed to see the Clan she loved growing and growing. With a smile on her face and the sun on her back, she leaped up the trail that made way to the Tallrock's summit, and took a moment to feel the breeze in her fur, blowing away most of the heat from the sun sailing far, far overhead. For a moment she wondered what it would be like to stand up on the rock as a leader, as Olivestar, and while she couldn't deny the appeal of having such prestige, she shook off the thought, knowing that she'd rather her turn come much, much later.
With a smile and a glance at the cats already in the clearing below, she called out,
"May all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock!"

What's happening? Amberkit's head jerked up at the call she recognised to be that of the Deputy, Olivestone. Curiously, she padded over from the Nursery and sat down with the other cats like she always did. Even if this ceremony wasn't about her, she was curious about what was happening.

Distantly, she recalled that it was her sixth Moon alive. She would be becoming an Apprentice soon.

On cue, her Clanmates began gathering below her, along with the cat whose ceremony she was conducting that day. Focusing on Amberkit, she smiled at the stoic she-cat, and called her forward.
"Amberkit, step forward."

Giving ample time for the kit to heed her words, she continued.
"Amberkit, you have reached your sixth moon, and it is time for you to begin your apprenticeship. From this day, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Amberpaw. Clearstone will be your mentor, and may he pass everything he knows onto you."

She watched as the new mentor and apprentice pair find each other in the crowd, and as they touched noses, she started the traditional chant.
"Amberpaw! Amberpaw! Amberpaw!"

Amberkit raised an eyebrow as Olivestone called for her to step forward. So it was her Apprentice Ceremony today? Interesting. She trotted forwards, squeezing her way through the many cats and stepping before the Deputy.

Olivestone began to speak, and Amberkit listened intently. She had never seen another Apprentice Ceremony conducted before, so she opted to listen carefully. She might need the knowledge of how to conduct such ceremonies later, who knows?

So her mentor was Clearstone...Wasn't he the cat who said Aspenheart was "at rest"? Yeah, that was him. That white cat with black face, legs, tail and ears.

Amberpaw nodded and turned towards the crowd of cats, scanning for her new Mentor.

Clearstone rose from his spot on the ground at Olivestone's call, having just finished a meal. He licked at his lips to clean them of any gore and took a seat in the back of the gathered cats, easily able to see over their heads due to his height and size. Ah, another apprentice ceremony. Excellent, we need more able-bodied cats, he thought, large ears rotating forward to catch who the mentor would be. To his surprise, it was none other than Clearstone himself. Well, that was a nice turn of events. A rare smile flickered on the corners of his mouth, pleased at both his own progress and the progress of his new apprentice Amberpaw. As was customary, the lanky warrior rose once more to his paws and loped over to meet the newly-named apprentice. Clearstone gave her a nod in greeting and dipped his head, touching noses with her.

"Nice to meet you, Amberpaw. I promise to teach you everything I know. We start training tomorrow at the crack of dawn, don't be late."

Amberpaw let Clearstone touch noses with her. As he spoke, she listened intently. How nice of him to assume I don’t wake up by daybreak already. If not earlier. Amberpaw thought with amusement, but her only reply was “I’ll certainly be there.”

Her eyes glinted with anticipation. She was as ready as she’ll ever be to be an Apprentice.
