Mousekit's Apprentice Ceremony

It seemed like the nursery produced a never-ending supply of kits, and there was constantly one in need of an apprentice ceremony. Not that Ivystar would complain about such a thing- growth in the Clan was excellent- but she was running out of warriors to assign the apprentices to. Before she knew it, each warrior would have three apprentices, and there would still be kits that needed a mentor. Leaping onto the branch, she gazed out at the camp, watching as a cat crossed to the fresh-kill pile or a group left for a patrol. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gathering beneath the Willow Branch for a Clan meeting!" She finally called out, watching for the kit she had in mind to emerge.

Mousekit emerged from the nursery and calmly sat down among the crowd. He wondered what Ivystar wanted to say. Maybe it's a ceremony! he thought.

Once Mousekit approached, Ivystar began. "Mousekit, please step forward." She said slowly, watching as the young tom did so. "You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day onward until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Mousepaw. Poppybloom will be your mentor- I trust that she will pass down everything she knows to you." Leaping from the branch, Ivystar joined her Clanmates and former apprentice, Poppybloom, in celebration.

Streamtail wove out of the nursery to visit her adopted son, Mousekit. He was the only tom-kit that she had, but today was when he reached six moons. Today was his apprentice ceremony. Streamtail would be there for him. Curling her long tail around Mousekit, she nudged him forward. "Go on. Go meet your mentor."

Mousekit smiled at Streamtail and mewed, "Okay!" He then walked over to his new mentor. "Hi Poppybloom, I promise I'll work hard! he said, determination in his eyes.
