From Shadows [open]

Flintstar blinked as Redwolf and Ebonysong both padded into the den, dipping his head to them as he shuffled out of the way. He took a seat next to Freckleface, watching his kits stir with a feeling of pride blossoming in his chest. He wasn't surprised that they seemed uncertain about the two unknown visitors - he remembered not being very certain on his own uncle when he had first been introduced to his litter. He blinked however as Redwolf introduced herself as his sister - somewhat....Before his expression softened. He waited for a moment of silence to speak up. "Redwolf isn't blood related to me but that doesn't make her any less family. Remember that, kits, family is who you choose, not just who can trace their family line back to you," he said with a nod of his head - knowing that he was going to work hard to push his children to carry the same love of family that Thornstar had passed down onto him. He jolted a little as Freckleface spoke up, glancing over at his mate. Ah...No, I haven't eaten yet," he admitted as he laid down next to her, tucking his paws beneath his chest. "I'll be happy to share this with you."

Tinykit finally sat up in their nest to start grooming himself as best he could— some spots he still had trouble reaching by himself, but he wouldn’t ask for help until he was sure he needed it. He wanted to prove he could do it all by himself and he was getting better with practice. His ears perked up as Flintstar started addressing the litter, and he sat up with wide eyes as he took in his father’s advice. He ran his words through his mind a few times, determined to take the wisdom of his leader and father to heart. Clearly if such an important cat believed in it, then it must be something Tinykit should value.

She wasn't about to show it, but the confirmation that Flintstar considered her to be part of the family made Redwolf's heart swell with joy, and eased her worried about intruding in on them. With a smile, she turned and went to push her way back out of the nursery. It was getting pretty crowded, and as well, she had a patrol to go on.
"I'll leave you guys to that and give you all some space. It was nice visiting, and getting to meet your kits. They're all lovely, and I can't wait to watch them grow up."
