Hunting patrol with the fam (closed)

Spotlake stood at the entrance of camp, waiting for her grandkit and her son. She had asked them on a hunting patrol, mostly to catch up on life. "Come on you slow rabbits. Prey aren't going to catch themselves." Spotlake called to them.

A rare smile on her scarred face, Wildpaw padded up to Spotlake, her grandmother, briefly tapping her calico flank with her tail. She was always glad of a patrol, especially since she was still trying to prove she could be a good hunter while being blind. The tawny apprentice pricked her ears, scenting for her father. Satisfied he was coming, Wildpaw turned to her grandmother, whiskers twitching in amusement at her jest.

Smallbean padded to the camp entrance, following Wildpaw. He wasn't necessarily excited to go on this patrol, but he couldn't say he didn't want to go. After all, it was good to distract himself, right? He put on a small smile as he approached his mother. "So, uh- where are w-we going?" He asked, stepping back so Spotlake could lead.

"Near the tunnels. We won't going in, we'll just go in the area." Said Spotlake, padding out of camp. "And hopefully on the way there we'll catch some prey."

Wildpaw's tail twitched nervously as Spotlake mentioned the tunnels, but she relaxed when she learned they wouldn't be going in. Her fur rustled in the breeze as they departed from the camp, and she took a few steps onto the moor, sniffing to see if she'd be lucky enough to stumble upon a rabbit or hare. Her rounded ears flicked up as she heard the slight scuffling of a creature, rummaging in a patch of heather. She swept her tail in a wait symbol for her patrol, and started to pinpoint the sound. Hare scent flooded into her glands, and she crouched down, muscles bunching in preparation. She waited a few seconds until she heard the hare move again. That was all she needed. Wildpaw inhaled and leapt. The hare bleated in alarm and started to race away. Wildpaw overpowered it with a few sprinting strides, ears and nose tracking the animal. It headed towards a small hole, maybe leading down to a warren or tunnel. Her golden muscles flexed under her wiry pelt, and at last, Wildpaw's teeth nipped it on the spine, and the hare twitched a few times before falling limp. Her scarred eyes shone as she carried the fat animal back to the patrol, kicking some dirt over it.

Wildpaw attempted to catch a hare, using 3 sp. Attempt successful!

Smallbean followed the two she-cats out of camp, keeping at a slow, steady pace. It seemed like a relatively nice day. It was pretty warm, and the sun shining through the clouds warmed his pelt. A perfect day for hunting. He saw that Wildpaw began to wander off on her own, probably to look for prey. Doing the same, he sniffed the air and soon picked up a familiar scent. Some sort of bird? He followed the scent train until he came upon a swallow. Being Windclan, he wasn't the best at catching birds, but what could he lose by giving it a shot? He crouched down and began to inch his way toward the bird. When he was in jumping range, he leaped into the air before landing his paws directly on the bird. With a swift bite to it's neck, he finished it off and quickly tucked it away.

Spotlake watched as Smallbean and Wildpaw went off to catch some prey. "Great catches!" She called to them. A scent caught her nose and started tracking it, to see it was rabbit, nibbling some grass, twitching its ears.

Spotlake ran towards it and was ready to catch it, when she heard barking. Spotlake turned around to see a huge dog, running there way. "Wildpaw! Smallbean! Dog!" Spotlake called, panic in her voice.

Spotlake tried to catch a rabbit but was unsuccessful costing -3 SP

the jolly crisis crew hunting patrol?

Wildpaw's head snapped up at her mother's voice. Panic set in. They were on the open moor with a large dog, two warriors, and a blind apprentice. The dog could run faster. Wildpaw remembered the last time she'd been cornered like this, with the eagle. I won't run this time. The thought propelled her forwards, paws churning the moor, and she leapt onto the dog, raking its back with her unsheathed claws. "Get away from my family, you stupid brute!"
