Harefoot roused his second apprentice, Daisypaw, around sunhigh. He had been blessed with two she-cat apprentices who were much kinder and more forgiving than Houndheart had been as a 'paw, although the former deputy seemed to be much less spiteful these days. The bright sun warmed the air, heating up Harefoot's pelt despite the slush and ice around the camp. "Let's go, Daisypaw, we've training to do!" He meowed, enthused to take her out to see the territory. She was Oakstar's kit, somewhat timid, and he wanted to help her see how fulfilling warrior life could be. He remembered when he used to be frightened of most things that moved outside of the camp walls. He'd been scarred by owls and badgers in his youth, but hopefully he would be able to help her be just as strong without the nasty scars he retained as a result.

Daisypaw got up carefully. She was a little nervous. She didn’t want to disappoint her new mentor. She started to follow him out of the territory. Her tail twitched nervously and looked around. She had never left camp before, and she was amazed, and somewhat scared, of the world outside.

Harefoot could sense her nervousness as they walked together, and he recalled being just as much, if not more, of a fearful wreck when he first lift the safety of the walls. "Daisypaw, I want you to remember that we're on our own terriotry and you'll always be safe here. Even if something dangerous does pop up, I'm be here to protect you." Harefoot meowed, glancing sideways at the she-cat with a kind smile. His days of fear were over. He had a family that he was completely willing to die for, and his fatherly desire to protect had inexplicably spread over the whole of his clan. However, death on a regular training expedition was highly unlikely.

"Down to business, Daisypaw. I'll show you how to hunt first, since feeding the clan is one of the most important jobs of a warrior." He slipped into his expert hunter's crouch, carefully moving slowly so his apprentice could get a good look at his form. "Go ahead and copy me. Then I want you to see if you can smell anything and chase it down!"

Daisypaw nodded. At his smile, she took a deep breath and relaxed a bit. She felt stupid for being so nervous. She hadn’t heard of any cat dying on a training before. She would be fine. She watched his position, and slipped into it carefully, trying to copy it. ”Like this?” She asked hopefully. She as tried to do it as accurately as possible.

OOC: Alright, here's a quick explanation of how to hunt :)

Essentially the hunting system (link here) is a game of luck where you roll dice to see if you've caught your prey or not. Lower numbers are safer chances than higher numbers, but some prey can be caught at decently high numbers (for example, squirrels on ThunderClan territory can be caught with any number from 1 to 6). If you roll too high, for example, a 7 when you're going after a squirrel, you miss. And for extra drama, if you roll a 10, then a predator encounter (link here) starts with the predator being controlled by the user who rolled the 10. 5 stamina (SP) is used whenever a hunting attempt is made during winter - it's 3 SP for the other seasons.

You can find the dice by clicking "preview" or "reply to topic." Underneath the reply box is a bar that says "dices roll" on it, and to the far right of the box is a little plus. When you click the plus, select the box next to "Dices roll #1", pick "Hunting dice", write your hunting attempt in the reply box and hit send. You'll get your result after you post your message, and then you can edit your hunting attempt according to the result.

IC: Harefoot nodded firmly when he watched Daisypaw's crouch. She seemed a little unfamilair with the position, but that was normal for a new apprentice. "Good, good. It's all a matter of muscle memory and getting used to the proper form. You're pretty close, just make sure your balance is even." He said, tapping her side gently with his nose to get her to adjust slightly. He lifted his muzzle, scenting the air for prey, and perked his ears when he heard a little rustle in the bushes only a few lengths of a foxtail away. "Okay, Daisypaw! Why don't you give it a shot?" Harefoot said quietly.

Daisypaw repositioned herself, feeling more comfortable in this position. She scented a a squirrel. As she crept toward the bush, she pounced on it, seeing its fluffy tail.

Daisypaw attempted to catch a squirrel, costing 5 SP. She rolled a “10,” summoning a predator.

OOC: Sure! It uses the battle system so it's just like fighting another character but with an npc that you control. Each cat has health and attacks based on their rank, and predators have their own special stats and a move list to pick from. Predators can flee when they reach half health. (battle system & rules) (predator list)

IC: Harefoot was watching closely when he heard the scratching noises of a raccoon nearby. "Careful, Daisypaw, I think there's something near us! Stay close to me." He called out to her in a loud whisper. Soon enough, the raccoon appeared from a thick bramble bush, spitting and hissing angrily at the two cats. Harefoot decided to go on the offensive to scare it off and charged, jumping at it and clawing it in the face. It slashed wildly, catching its claws on his fur and skin.

Harefoot used Jumping Strike, dealing 14 damage and using 20 stamina.

The Raccoon used Quick Swipe, dealing 20 damage and using 10 stamina.

Daisypaw hurried closer too her mentor, seeing the raccoon. Her eyes widened as it started to fight with Harefoot, and she decided to help the warrior. She ran at it, tackling it and letting out a loud hiss.

Daisypaw used Run and Tackle, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina.
The raccoon used Quick Swipe dealing 20 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Daisypaw:

OOC: since I'm the one controlling the predator, and attacks only happen once a turn, the raccoon wouldn't do any damage in your post. Also, it seems as though you've got your HP and SP mixed up - you subtracted the SP used in your move from your HP which should be at 20. Daisypaw's stats should be like this:

Daisypaw:
HP: 20/20
SP: 65/80

(I also made a mistake! I wrote that the raccoon has 20 HP when it actually has 30, and that was my fault. Sorry!)

IC: Harefoot was proud when he saw his apprentice charge into the battle. It was very brave of her to help him instead of running away, and he made a quick mental note to praise her for it. However, the raccoon was still very much a problem, and he decided to handle it as quickly as possible. Its little claws were sharp, so he ducked and weaved to avoid them, then lunged to grab it by the tail. He yanked back, causing it to screech in pain and confusion.

Harefoot used Tail Yank, dealing 7 damage and using 10 stamina. The raccoon is stunned for one turn!

(One last note - normally it's against the rules to use a special move when you're double-teaming an enemy, but I got permission from staff so that you could try one more time :))

The she-cat saw the weakened raccoon, and decided to try to finish it off. Summoning her courage once more, she unsheathed her claws, then ran up at the raccoon, slashing at its face with her claws. She hoped to kill the predator, so that it would no longer be a problem.

Daisypaw used Front Paw Strike costing 10 stamina and dealing 6 damage.

IC: Harefoot sighed in relief when the raccoon fell, crumbling against Daisypaw's final blow. He cautiously approached the body and prodded it with his paw. "Well done! Congratulations on killing your first raccoon." Well, hopefully she wouldn't have to kill too many more, but this was probably a good start on learning how. He shook his fur out, feeling a few trickles of blood against his skin, and decided the damage wasn't bad. "We can keep hunting if you still feel up to it. I wouldn't want you to return to camp empty-pawed on your first hunting patrol." Harefoot meowed.

Daisypaw smiled as her mentor praised her. She looked at his pelt as he shook it out, neither of them were very injured. With the idea of continuing to hunt, Daisypaw smiled and nodded. She enjoyed hunting a lot. ”Sure! We can keep hunting.” she mewed confidentially. Looking around, she scented a squirrel. She moved closer toward it, hoping that she wouldn’t encounter another raccoon or other predator. As she locked eyes onto it, she pounced, hoping to get the squirrel. She correctly captured the squirrel, and picked it up, letting the limp body hang in her jaw. Confidentially, she glanced around, looking for another animal she could hunt.
