An abandoned kit (Closed)

-somewhere in the snowy forest-

A white Tom was running towards camp, covered in blood, holding a small little kit in his jaws. When he scented a patrol he quickly set the kit down and ran back for his home.

In the snow a tiny white kit mewed out for her mom in fear and hunger. She didn’t realize what had happened to her mother or how she was a rouge kit in clan territory. All she knew was that she was cold and hungry.

Crowspirit was padding along with the patrol, laughing and joking around, until he scented blood, and a kit. “Does anyone else smell that? We should check it out.” It wasn’t long before mews pierced his ear fur, and he spotted a white pelt in the snow, small stains of blood on it, and a few droplets of blood and paw tracks showing where an older, bigger cat had walked away. He rushed over to the kitten, tail twitching. He breathed a sigh of relief to see the little one was uninjured, and he looked up to his patrol. “Rogue kit. The blood is of another cat. What should we do with her?”

Petalpaw looked at her father then down at the mewling kit. “Maybe we could bring it back to camp?” she mewed looking at Ferretpaw and Crowspirit.

The tiny kit didn’t know who the strange cats were or their scents so she kept mewling for her mother.

Ferretpaw had never thought he'd be glad to see blood on the snow, but it made it easier to spot the white kit, who unfortunately blended in. It was lucky, then, that they had spotted her. It was cold, and definitely not weather for one so small to be out in.

"We really can't just leave her here. She'll freeze to death, and I don't think even angry StarClan would want that," Ferretpaw added his opinion, shaking away the brief thought about the past Gathering. Bad timing, really, but the warrior code demanded respect for all life.

Crowspirit nodded, picking up the little she-cat gently by the scruff. "Spotlake kitted again recently. Finchstar won't say no, if I know him at all. And my mate will be eager to accept another daughter." His voice stayed grave, but his heart fluttered like a chaffinch. Another kit to raise, to call his own. There wouldn't be any contention, as Spotlake was the only currently nursing queen. "We should go, before this little one gets any colder."

With that, he turned for camp, doing his best to shelter the kitten under his chin.

Petalpaw followed after her father excited to have a little sister that she could spoil.

Snow fell asleep in the tom’s jaw as they walked towards the unknown.

Ferretpaw fell into position at the rear of the group, his paws itching to just run back to camp but knowing that was not really possible with the little bundle that Crowspirit now carried. As sure as he had tried to sound when voicing his opinion, he couldn't help but wonder if this would bring more consequences to WindClan.
