New sprouts (Open!)

Spotlake breathed heavily. After kitting she was exhausted. But now it was over. Now three she-kits laid at her stomach. She wrapped her tail around them protectivly. I promise to protect you three always. Thought Spotlake. She then turned her head to Crowspirit, her mate.

"Have you thought any names?" She asked glancing towards her kits to make sure they were still there before returning her gaze to Crowspirit.

The little striped cream tabby mewed as she crawled closer to her mother. As the kit drank she felt two other kits by her and curled her tiny tail over them protectively.

(Can petal be oldest?)

Crowspirit slowly padded in, head tilted. “They all look beautiful. You did great.” He purred and nuzzled his mate’s head, before looking at their firstborn. “She has your pale coat, and my stripes. Why don’t we call her Petalkit? She looks like she’ll take after you. And maybe Specklekit for the spotted one.” He mewed, tail curled in pleasure and pride. “I’m sure my parents will be in here soon. They’re not the kind to miss out on their first grand-kits.”

Spotlake licked his cheek. "Perfect names. I was thinking for the final kit Maplekit." Said Spotlake. "And I hope my mother comes too." She licked Specklekit to smooth out the kit's pelt.

Specklekit yawner and closes her eyes, falling back asleep she was tired and just wanted to sleep.

Maplekit blinked open her eyes. She stretched and sat up. She padded out of the nursery. A cold wind blew past Maplekit. She shivered and darted into the shelter of the nursery.

Spotlake watched as Maplekit as she tried to explore. Spotlake protectivly wrapped her tail around Maplekit as the kit shivered and went back inside. Shouldn't have made my nest so close to the entrance of the nursery. She thought. Especilly since her kits were really active as they began to open their eyes. Spotlake remembered that she opened her eyes the same day she was born, but not as quickly as Maplekit did. And while she was born first Pheasantpaw had beat her in opening eyes. Looks like Maplekit did the same thing.

Spotlake snapped out of her thoughts when she smelled a familar scent. "Oh hello." Said Spotlake as she greeted the cat who padded in.

Softpaw padded in, two borage leaves in her mouth. She'd been confined to camp since she'd fainted from exhaustion, and her pelt shone brightly from the major grooming Graybriar had given her. Aspenheart kept a steady watch on her, and this was one of her few tasks for the day. Three kits laid by the newly made mother, and Softpaw smiled. "Hi, Spotlake? How are you feeling?I've brought you some borage, to help your milk come." Softpaw mewed, sliding the leaves towards her.

Looking down at the little bundles of life, her eyes softened more (if possible), and she smiled wider. Sniffing each gently, she examined each, making sure they were healthy. All looked perfectly fine. "Hello, little ones. I'm your kin, Softpaw." She meowed softly, looking towards Spotlake with love. She was Crowspirit's mate, and Crowspirit was Goldengale's son. Goldengale was her older sister, which made them family now.

Spotlake lapped up the herbs. The borage left a taste in her mouth but she didn't care. She laid her head down. While it was obvious more cats would come Spotlake was hoping to get some rest.

Maplekit snuggled up against her mother, trying to warm.

Speckledkit opened her eyes and yawned. She curled closer to her mother and watched her surroundings closely. She felt a cool breeze and kept herself warm. She would leave her mothers side on a warmer day.

Petalkit woke up and opened her eyes seeing her mother for the first time. She mewed and then saw her little sisters. She licked each one with her tiny tongue on top of their little heads. She did a tiny yawn with her little mouth and looked up at the cats surrounding her mother. She did a tiny hiss trying to scare them away from her sisters.

Speckledkit looked at petalkit and gave her a lick. She snuggled in close and looked at the cat, she started to stand and started walking around in circles, looking around.

At her sister's touch, Maplekit jumped up.  When she realized that it was just her sister she calmed down.  That looks like fun! Thought Maplekit, seeing Speckledkit walking in circles.  She let out a squeak of a battle cry and started chasing her.

Crowspirit curled his tail, greeting Softpaw with a friendly headbutt, before his attention was drawn away from his cousin as his daughters began to wake up and wobble around. He purred, nuzzling Petalkit. “Little one, I’m your father. Although, I suppose the three of you will realize that soon enough.” It made sense, that the kits would be more drawn to Spotlake on the day they were born. But they would learn to recognize his scent before long, and he’d become just as much a parent as the calico molly.
