Wolfcall padded out of the warriors den, bright-eyed and energetic. It was just past sunrise, and despite the early hour, he was ready to get out and do something. A quick glance at the fresh-kill pile confirmed that a hunt would soon be necessary, and so the deputy set off to find some cats to join him. He found Flowerthorn first, and padded over with a friendly mew. "Good morning, Flowerthorn! Would you like to go hunting with me?" Another shape caught his eye and he turned, spying Blossompaw as well. "Blossompaw!" he called her over. "Why don't you come as well?"

Flowerthorn wasn't much of a morning cat but she was already awake from lack of being able to sleep when Wolfcall found her. The pale warrior gave the deputy a soft grunt of a greeting before speaking up. Her voice showing that she was clearly tired. "Sure. Hunting will probably wake me up.." While the deputy snagged Blossompaw the older warrior took the time to stretch her self out. Her front paws stretching before her, claws digging into the ground as she arched her back, letting out a big yawn.

Spottedstar had said that training would happen in the afternoon, but Blossompaw had woken in the early hours of the morning, the sky still dark, paws ready to see the world outside of the camp, the world that had called but had gone unanswered in her determination to not do anything to mess with her chances of becoming an apprentice as quickly as possible. She had just padded out of the apprentice den when a familiar voice called out and her gray eyes turned to see Wolfcall. Tail lifting in greeting, her eyes shone brightly as she made her way over quickly. "I'd be happy to, Wolfcall! Good morning, Flowerthorn." She mewed to the other warrior, dipping her head respectfully.

"Great! Let's get at it then!" Uncharacteristically chipper for so early in the morning, Wolfcall led the two she-cats out into the trees, following a well-worn path in the general direction of Twolegplace. He had been over this way the day before, and had a bit more luck than usual with prey, even in the snow and cold. "There were a lot of birds here yesterday," he said, lowering his voice to a whisper. "I suppose we split here, and then re-converge once we've caught something. I'll go this way."

Wolfcall headed into the foliage, sticking relatively close to the area. It wasn't long before he spotted a thrush, pecking among the roots of a tree and blissfully unaware of its impending doom. The deputy crouched, moved forward, and then sprang at the bird, claws outstretched. He landed neatly on top of the bird, swiftly ending it with a nip to the neck. It was fat and young and well-fed, a good offering for the clan.

Flowerthorn nodded in response with another yawn. She really didn't want to be awake right now. She watched as the deputy padded off before turning her attention to the apprentice. "If you need help just get one of us." Preferably Wolfcall.. She thought, but wasn't going to say out loud. She wasn't good with apprentices.

The pale warrior turned and jumped up into the trees. Her small slender body allowing her to move among the trees with ease. Once she had spotted a bird the warrior crouched down, shifting her weight carefully. Once she was close enough she pounced. She caught the bird with ease, moving along the branches until she managed to get down and bury her prey.

Blossompaw followed behind the two warriors, trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling of snow at her belly as she pushed her way through it. If much more snow fell, she'd be in real trouble until she grew more! When Wolfcall broke the silence, she nodded, anticipation growing in her chest as he suggested slipping up. He went his way, then Flowerthorn turned towards her and reminded her to get help if she needed it. Nodding once to confirm to the she-cat that she heard, she turned and headed in a different direction as the other two.

Carefully climbing a tree, she let her pelt blend in with the shadowed snow clumped on the limbs. She sat poised there, just above a hole she had spotted in the trunk of the tree. After several heartbeats, she sensed movement in the hole, and braces herself. Finally, a squirrel emerged, it long curly tail behind it as it scurried out onto the branch below her. Without hesitation, Blossompaw leapt from her branch to the one below her, catching the squirrel that never saw her coming in her jaws as she rebalanced herself on the limb. It wasn't until she had finished the prayer for her prey that she looked up and realized what she had done, and her heart raced with exhiliration. The only sign that something happened on the ground was the little clumps of snow that fell from above, something normal for the time of year.
