Pain gripped the she-cat as she limped towards her daughter's den. These kits were going to be the death of her, at this point she was sure of it. Her past litters had left her swollen and uncomfortable, sure. Nothing compared to this one though. She ached all the time, and her belly was at least twice the size it was last time... and stars, did it hurt.

The little squirming lumps inside of her refused to stay still and not kick her in the stomach. Panting, she wondered if the abrupt, lancing pain in her gut meant she'd finally be expelling the little leeches. She was looking forward to being able to keep a meal down again.

She really, really wanted a frog right now, but her precious little parasites had other plans.

Bursting through the greenery shielding the den from the outdoors, Thornstar snarled raspily at the black tabby within. "Mothglow, I-"

However, that was all she managed to get out before a whole new type of pain tore through her belly, bringing her crashing to the ground hard.

Oh yeah, they were definitely coming.

Mothglow, for all her energetic nature and sporadic attention span, handled the sight of her adopted mother dropping to the floor of her den with grace. Well, as much grace as one could expect given the situation, anyway. She didn't say anything, despite the look on her face - she'd been waiting for this moment, after all, though she hadn't expected it to be quite so jarring.

(Kitting was never pretty, was it?)

Chervil, raspberry leaves and borage were shoved into Thornstar's face, and once Mothglow was satisfied with that she followed them up with a stick. One she was reasonably certain wouldn't break under pressure, but one could only ever be so sure of anything at times like these.
