Honeytongue almost jumped at the touch of a pelt, turning in surprise as she recognized the scent not as Stormbringer, who she would have expected, but Egretstorm, the newest warrior despite being a good deal older than herself. She blinked, rather surprised as she hadn't really spoken much to the new warrior - they had gone out a few times, she recalled her presence on that terrifying badger hunting patrol. But...With the Clan as small as was, she suppose they couldn't really afford to not reach out and cling. Besides, Egretstorm had dealt with a fair share of losses as well...There was a kinship in that. Her eyes followed hers as they stared at WindClan. Her eyes sought for Dappleshine, before realizing that perhaps it was a bit pointless - she had to be close to giving birth or just had. "...I dunno but I'm not really surprised," she said after a few heartbeats, drawing herself a bit tighter. "Finchstar seems to have a really lax acceptation policy from what I've heard. Letting in those who are willing to prove themselves can certainly create a large Clan."

He definitely didn't want to find out firstpaw, but there was something quite fascinating about cats that chose to get in the water. Ferretpaw was just fine on dry land, thank you very much. The thought of water impeding his movements made his heart beat faster. His ears pricked as the RiverClan cat said he was a medicine cat apprentice.

"We just had a medicine cat apprentice appointed, too." Ferretpaw offered conversationally, his gaze traveling over the growing crowd of cats to try to spot Softpaw. "Have you spoken to StarClan yet?" The ruddy apprentice was quite fascinated by the entire concept, especially considering he lost his parents so young, StarClan was quite the wonder.

Aspenheart hobbled into the clearing in the manner he often did: quietly. The journey was always difficult for him on his funny-moving legs, but he enjoyed time with his medicine cat colleagues. He often missed them, only seeing them twice a moon. He hobbled aimlessly to the general area he often found them and sat down, stretching out each leg and settling down. He had a terrible feeling that he would be bored by the end of the night. There simply wasn't much going on... other than the terrible shape Oakstar was in. Aspenheart knew that look too well; somebody in ThunderClan had passed. He hoped it wasn't his mate. They seemed a cute pair together.

Softpaw followed closely beside Downpaw. They'd slowly rekindled their closeness, together any time they had alone time. Downpaw drifted away, giving her a lick, and walked around to find someone to converse with. This is it! Softpaw thought, I'm meeting other medicine cats now! I wonder what they'll be like? Softpaw sought out her mentor's familiar silver pelt and found it nearly instantly.

She rushed over to him, "Aspenheart, a-are there any other medicine cat apprentices I can meet? Or are they all old? I-I mean! Are they all full medicine cats!" She asked, covering up the fact she'd accidentally called cats she didn't even know old.

Mossbloom padded into the gathering slowly, the bundle of herbs she had carefully gather before leaving grasped in her jaws gingerly. They had an extra addition this time, an herb not generally included in her bundles. The smell of mint coming from her bundle was soothing, and was also one of the only things that could drive the scent of death from her nose. Even after the many sunrises, she still couldn't drive the scents of her mother and passed deputy from her nostrils. Approaching Greatrock with her head lowered, eyes trained on the ground in front of her until the legs of Aspenheart were before her.

Green eyes lifted and met the WindClan tom's, looking tired and haunted before she leaned forward, herbs still dangling from her jaws. In a gesture that surprised herself, she pressed the top of her head to Aspenheart's for a heartbeat, taking comfort in one of the friends that she knew wouldn't say anything, at least not quite yet. After that brief moment she pulled back, giving him a sad smile before turning to the young she-cat nearby. Setting down her herbs, she wrapped her tail around her paws and lowered her head in greeting. "Hi there, I'm Mossbloom, from ThunderClan. Are you Aspenheart's new apprentice?" She mewed kindly, though the brightness in her voice and eyes seemed to be more than a little forced.

A tom with a black coat caught her eye, and she looked past the two WindClan cats to let her gaze fall on a third. Raventail, WindClan's deputy. He had been one of her first friends outside of the clan, along with Leaftwirl and Amberdawn, Marmalade now. Two of them were gone, Marmalade to the vast unknowns with her twolegs, Leaftwirl to the plains and forests of StarClan, and she felt a twinge in her belly as she noted his distant, occupied look. Hopefully all was well....

Thornstar entered the gathering a bit slowly, her hulking form noticeably larger than before. The she-cat made no effort to acknowledge her obvious pregnancy, but it was clear that it had slowed her down. She made her way towards the Great Rock, not directly acknowledging anyone she passed. This wasn't a social call after all, this was business.

To be fair though, her gait was almost laughable with how heavy she was. Her belly was swollen beyond what was normal, and her movements were a struggle. The overall irritation of having to make the trip in such a state had her temper high even without having to deal with the politics the other leaders liked to throw in her face. However, she couldn't just send Flintshard here to his first gathering as a deputy alone.

Like Scorchstar had done to her.

And so, she kept on, aggressively waddling to the oversized pebble those half-brained toads called leaders looked down at everyone from. Then again, she supposed she was one of those toads, but she liked to think she was a little less...

Well...

Pretentious?

She didn't really know. Something told her that the moment most leaders received those nine lives they turn their back on their old selves in some half-baked attempt to seem like they're a better leader. She'd felt the urge to do it herself, and part of her wondered if it was something imposed upon them by Starclan, or just some societal norm that they all felt the need to conform to. Regardless, it was annoying.

Looking up at the leap she'd made multiple times now, Thornstar hesitated for a heartbeat. Her belly was likely going to get in the way of her typical route up, wasn't it? The Shadowclanner groaned inwardly at the thought, tail lashing idly. These little leeches better be worth the trouble they were causing her. With great difficulty Thornstar hauled herself up, her claws scraping against the stone. She took her place beside the others as she tried to stifle her slight panting. The last thing she needed was for these sentient mudballs to think of her as weak for having to argue with her own mass while trying to get up here.

Flintshard stuck close to his mother, his gaze focused on the path ahead of them as they reached the clearing. He wasn't surprised to see they were the last to arrive - Thornstar didn't quite have the speed she normally had. He had wanted to stress to her to refrain from going, but that required more words than he was willing to use and he had a feeling it would have been a pointless argument. Things rarely changed Thornstar's mind once she was set on something from what he had seen. Part of him wished he could have stayed but he was a deputy now, it seemed going to the Gathering would be an annoyance he would have to deal with.

As ShadowClan filtered into the clearing, he stroll with purpose toward the Great Rock, but found his gaze wandering as he tried to locate Basilpaw among the crowd. He didn't see her and he wasn't sure it really mattered - he was to sit at the front with the other deputies. He sighed, his attention falling onto the cats who had made their way to the base of the rock...Eyes falling onto the two new additions. It seemed ShadowClan wasn't the only one with a new deputy, both Beartooth and Foxfire were missing. Had something happened them? He gently stored the information away as he took his seat at the edge of the deputies, doing his best to sit as far away as he could managed - he didn't want to share words with any of them. He didn't care about their business, he was simply here to do his duty, nothing more. He didn't care for any small-talk they might want to make, he was more focused on just keeping his sanity in all the noise until it was time to leave.

Aspenheart noticed Mossbloom's uncharacteristic melancholy almost immediately. He kept his mouth shut, giving her only the comfort of a kind touch as she pressed her forehead to his. He wondered to himself if her sullen eyes were related to her leader's. The pit in his stomach only grew. "Welcome to fight night," he snickered lightly. "Come on, make a wager! I bet everybody is going to be mad at Thornstar because of something that happened six seasons ago. Oh, no, I changed my mind. Everybody's going to get mad at an apprentice because they talked too loud. That's a good one."

He looked down at Softpaw and ruffled her ears around. "Yeah, she's my herb-fetcher now. I had to swallow my pride at some point... It's getting harder to get around lately." He noticed that Mossbloom's eyes were focused somewhere else, and he nodded, giving her silent permission to excuse herself. He turned his attention to Softpaw, noticing the way she curiously looked around. "I won't make you sit here if you want to find cats your own age. I'll tell you, it's all politics and the occasional declaration of alliance. None of which really matters to us. We're meant to be above it all. Chaplains of peace." He heard an extra set of meows as ShadowClan paraded into camp. His eyes went wide with shock as a very pregnant Thornstar trodded up the Great Rock. He tilted his head as he pondered the circumstances. Wasn't it a little late to be going to a Gathering? "Well, I'm starting to wish I hadn't switched my wager," he whispered to Softpaw.

As ShadowClan arrived at the Gathering, Mothglow settled herself near the other medicine cats; tail wrapped around her side but twitching idly as she shifted on her paws. Sitting still was still a skill that eluded her. The younger cat speaking to Aspenheart caught her attention, and her orange eyes widened slightly with surprise. "Is this your apprentice, Aspenheart?"

She never thought she'd see the day where WindClan's medicine cat, and her longtime friend, took up an apprentice... Though she wasn't sure why, when she thought about it. All medicine cats needed to train someone to take their place, didn't they? Or they wound up in the state ShadowClan had been in when she became a medicine cat, and while she loved her life, she wouldn't wish that on any other Clan.

Still, the black tabby's idle thoughts settled into curiosity as she watched the apprentice that carried WindClan's scent. If this was Aspenheart's apprentice, she looked forward to seeing her more often. "I'm the Magnificent Mothglow," she introduced.

Blossompaw followed her mentor, Spottedstar, into the clearing at Fourtrees. It hadn't been long since her ceremony, and she still wasn't certain about everything. She had been watching Spottedstar closely, following his movements. Whenever he was busy and she was sent with a different warrior, she quietly followed orders and watched as much as possible. When she had free time, she could be found in a quiet corner of camp, diligently practicing her hunting crouch or her battle stances, going over them over and over until she was confident that she had them right. If she still had extra time, she would ask Wolfcall or Spottedstar about going along on other patrols - the more practice the better after all. She would work hard to be the best warrior SkyClan had ever seen, even if they didn't realize it at first. Waking at dawn was an easy task for her, as she was prone to go to sleep earlier than most of the other apprentices.

Her long fur had been carefully groomed, she wanted to make sure that every hair on her pelt was in it's proper place to attend the Gathering. After all, it would be no good for Spottedstar's apprentice to look like a flea-bitten fox, would it? No, she was going to make him proud, to make him smile. She hadn't quite been prepared, however, for him to go straight to the Greatrock, and she stood in the middle of the group of SkyClan cats looking out at all of the other clans mingling. Great StarClan there was a lot of cats.... Not sure where to go or what to do, she simply sat down, head high as she tucked her tail over her paws and took in her surroundings. Stars knew there was a lot to take in.

Sparkfire followed her Clanmates into the clearing. It seemed ShadowClan had been the last to arrive yet again. Well, that was good. That meant she didn't need to wait to find the two cats she had wanted to talk to. Breaking away from the other ShadowClanners, she began her search for the younger pale molly from WindClan.

However, strangely enough, she couldn't seem to find Honeypaw anywhere in the crowd. She checked all the places she would most likely be -- anywhere outside of the large cluster of cats. Her disappointment didn't last long before she spotted the other cat she had wanted to talk to that evening. She smiled and approached the pretty silver molly who actually was from WindClan. "Hello, Zinnia. I trust you are doing well."

Asterstrike remained silent as he padded into Fourtrees. The familiar gathering place of the five Clans felt completely foreign to him now, ever since his beloved littermate had been killed by ThunderClan's deputy. Except that hadn't been true. No, Poppyheart had in fact been killed by one of his own Clanmates -- correction: one of his former Clanmates. He had made sure that little Lightpaw would never harm another cat ever again. Hopefully, now that his killer had been taken care of, Poppyheart could rest in peace up in StarClan.

Shadepaw followed the crowd of Shadowclan cats into Fourtrees. She looked around before finding a nice spot to sit, the sooner this thing was over, the better, she wasn't one to nose around in other clan's business. She sat in the space, wanting no disturbance.

Zinnia tensed for a brief moment as another cat called her name, but upon recognizing the figure before her she relaxed. It was the cat she'd spoken to at her first Gathering - she'd spent enough time in the Clans now to tell ShadowClan's scent apart from the rest, and could now easily identify her as a ShadowClan cat. What was her name, again...? Spark-something... "Hello, Spark-fire," she greeted, a slight hesitation in her voice before guessing at the name. Oh stars, she hoped she was right about that... The last thing she needed was to publicly embarrass the other WindClan cats around her. "These past moons have been rather kind to me, yes. Is the same true for you?"

Sparkfire's smile grew. It was good to know she still remembered her, even after such a long time. "I'm happy to hear it. ShadowClan's seen better days admittedly, but we're getting by, just as every other Clan is, I'm sure." Then she softly chuckled. "Hey, uh, I got a question for you: you wouldn't happen to know of a small sandy-pale molly named Honeypaw, would you? She claims to hail from WindClan." Of course, she had already known the apprentice in question was actually from SkyClan, but it was mainly just for amusement's sake that she got confirmation from an actual WindClanner.

Zinnia blinked. "No, I don't believe I know her," the WindClan warrior admitted. There wasn't any cat by that name in WindClan, unless she'd somehow failed to notice an entire Clanmate - not impossible, given her track record, but certainly unlikely. "I don't recall any cats named Honeypaw, actually, sandy or otherwise. I hope you find her soon, though. And that ShadowClan sees those better days sometime soon."

While their leader was battle-scared and spoke little, the ShadowClan cats she had seen and spoken to seemed kind enough, and she found that she wished them only the best.
