Frozen Rivers (Open death topic!)

Treepaw sat by the unmoving river. Originally he wanted to catch something, but when he came to the wide river there was a thin layer of ice over it. The fish swam underneath, out of his reach. His eyes narrowed as he started to hit the ice with his paw, he was too light to break it. So he carefully stepped two paws on the ice.

There was a deafening crack and his paws slipped, he plunged into the cold water. He let out a scream as he reached for the edge. "Ah! Help me!" He cried gripping his claws into the dirt. The current tried to pull him to the deeper middle, but there was ice there and Treepaw knew without doubt he'd die if he let go.

The cold water numbed his back legs and they stopped moving, letting the current drag them, but he still hang on. "Help! Somebody!" He called, louder.

When nobody came he felt his heart quicken his claws barely hanging on in panic. He felt tired and despite the many attempts to stay awake his body relaxed. His claws came unhooked from the muddy ground and he shut his eyes laying limp in the water.

Until he was swept under the ice.

He felt the coolness run over his back and opened his eyes, they stung as water went into them and he looked up.  He could barely see through the thin ice and he tried to break it with his back. He screamed through the water as he tried to fight the current, trying to break the ice but it trapped him in. He tried to hold his breath but he already opened his mouth and water flooded in.

It had filled his lungs and he lost control, like how he plunged into the cold river he plunged into cold darkness. A single bubble touched the surface of the ice and popped. His last breath. Treepaw didn't wake up again in the real world, his brown body going limp under the ice, he sank for awhile, filled with both the heavy body of himself and water. He'll float again, unless anything grabs him.
