Leaf-Bare Blossoms

It had been a couple moons since Blossomkit had entered the world of the clans, and in that time her grayish blue eyes had opened to the snow-covered world around her. She was a quiet, calm kit, not prone to fits or getting into trouble, preferring to spend her time sitting and watched from a distance. Today, however, was a special day, today she was finally going to be able to travel outside the nursery!

Having been looking forward to the day since she got confirmation from her mother and father that it would be happening, Blossomkit sat near the exit of the nursery as her paws kneaded the soft ground under paw, mind going would with the possibilities of what the outside world was like. Looking back towards her mother, she smiled brightly as she waited for the confirmation that it was time. Finally, after what felt like ages, her father entered the nursery and padded past her to greet her mother before turning to his daughter.

She stood up to reach him as he nuzzled the top of her head, a purr rumbling in her chest. "Good morning Daddy! Is it very cold outside?" Her mewed softly, looking between her parents. If it was too cold, would they let her outside?... Surely they would, right? To her relief, her father shook his head, reassuring her that while it was chilly, the sun was out and it was a nice day. Content, she turned to follow the tom as he lead the way from the nursery and out into the new world that was SkyClan's camp.

Eyes wide in amazement, Blossomkit turned slowly in a circle as she took in her surroundings. So this was what camp looked like... A single white paw proceed the snow with slight discomfort at the cold and crackle of it, before returning it to her belly as she moved to her father's side and sat down, gazing at anyone who walked by with quiet awe.

A bushy tailed she-cat noticed a fluffy silver she-kit appear into camp, curiously she padded over. "Hey little kit, it's... Blossomkit.. right?" She purred softly. "I'm Amberwing, a warrior! Welcome to Skyclan!" She greeted the smaller kitten. She licked her red paw calmly as she noticed the look of awe on her face. "Oh? I bet you can't wait to be a warrior, can you? It's very nice to meet you. I'm a bit of a chatterbox, hope you don't mind?" She added quickly.

The rather frozen medicine cat plodded back into camp, a sparce bundle of herbs in his mouth. It was all he could find to replenish his dwindling stock and he hadn't been particularly successful. His paw pads were cold and prickling with pain and Sagelight sighed heavily through the plants in his mouth. Leaf-bare was going to be long...

As he came closer to his den he spotted the small pelt of Blossomkit, one of SkyClan's newest members, and Amberwing, one of SkyClan's newest warriors. His eyes brightened as he approached them, grinning. The tom set his herbs carefully down on top of the snow, his tail raised high in greeting. "Good morning you two! How are you doing? Don't stay out here too long, Blossomkit, I don't want you catching a cold!"

Wolfcall lounged around the entrance of Spottedstar's den, his head and forepaws hanging off the ledge and looking down into the camp. He had chosen this spot not because it was near the leader's den, but because the path that led up to it was gloriously snow-free, unlike the rest of the camp that still lingered in the cold, white, merciless clutches of Leafbare. The newly-named deputy shivered as a breeze swept through the clearing, cutting him to the bone. His attempts at laying in one of the few spots in the camp that was free of snow, and soaking up the warmth from the sun, had been majorly unsuccessful. But he was too restless and anxious to shelter in the stuffy warriors' den where he couldn't watch the camp, so there he lay, a displeased expression plastered all over his dark face.

But then, a blessed distraction came in the form of movement at the nursery, and Blossomkit, SkyClan's newest, emerging into the camp with her father. Wolfcall perked in interest. He didn't lift his head or leap down to greet them, but his ears flicked in the direction of the pair, and Amberwing, who did move to introduce herself. They didn't have much time to converse before his uncle appeared as well. Wolfcall flicked his tail, grumpy expression melting into a content one. SkyClan was growing - with every new kit born, the future for the clan looked brighter, and he liked that. He liked it a lot.

A much larger cat, probably a warrior by her size and demeanor, approached the father and daughter as they stood in the snow-coated camp. Gray eyes wide, the she-kit stared up at the newcomer for a heartbeat before a bright smile crossed her face and her eyes shut as she greeted her. "Hi, Amberwing! You're right, I'm Blossomkit!" Her eyes opened, focusing once again on the older she-cat. "No, that doesn't bother me at all! I can't wait to be out of the nursery, it's warm and cozy but I can't wait to see everything!"

Another cat joined them, this one smelling like an odd, strong mixture of the moss nests were made of but also so much more. Her eyes slid from his face to the green things he had set on the snow, and her nose twitched as she leaned forward slightly to sniff experimentally at them. What were they? They smelled so weird and different.... Her head rose as the tom spoke and she wrapped her tail around her paws at the mention of a cold. That would be no good.... "Don't worry, we'll be careful! Won't we daddy? What are those green things?" Her gaze traveled back to the herbs, looking at them in curiosity when movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention.


Looking up, she spotted another cat on the far side of camp, ears turned in their direction before his tail flicked. Her eyes met his for a moment, and after a heartbeat she smiled brightly at him, ears flattening slightly as she tried to project the unspoken hello to him, whoever he was.
