Ferretnose was not one to stray off the beaten path, and she preferred it that was. She wasn't the leading type. She wasn't a follower, either; she was an onlooker to a string of events, once in a while giving input. She picked and chose her battles very specifically. She enjoyed her busy work, and she enjoyed pleasing others. A perfect warrior, she decided. However, the beaten path was getting kind of boring on this sunhigh, when there was little prey to be found. Something was scaring it off, they decided. When the suggestion was made that it could be something from beyond the treeline, Ferretnose kept her mouth firmly shut and tried to keep her hunting companions from sensing her fear. The group decided to split up and search the skies for the bird that was giving their prey so much trouble.

Ferretnose decided to hide. With such a small body, it was easy to stay close to the ground. It wasn't that she was a coward. She was skittish, of course, but she wouldn't turn and run from most things. She could stand up for herself if her life depended on it. If her clanmate called out for immediate backup, she would run at the opportunity. Unfortunately, a fear of great big eagles tormented her throughout her life. She couldn't see all that well on the ground, and it wasn't as if she had an eye on the top of her head. The bird of prey was a silent killer, sweeping up kits and apprentices with ease. It made her skin crawl to imagine, being so small and so obviously vulnerable.

It was with these thoughts on her mind that Ferretnose crept out from her hiding place, the sunshine running across her back through the hole in the canopy. Then, a shadow, and talons tore at her flank. Ferretnose howled in pain and alarm as she scrambled for cover. In a moment, there were feathers and squawking on the other side of a bramble bush.

Eagle used Swoop, dealing 30 damage and costing 20 stamina.

"Stupid bird!" Ferretnose whined, looking around for an escape route. She considered shouting for backup, but the rest of the patrol was searching far from her. Sucking in a few consecutive breaths, Ferretnose shut her eyes tight and darted through a hole in the brambles, running in a zig-zag through the undergrowth. She wasn't quick enough, and she heard the cawing of the eagle just whiskers from her tail. In a burst of adrenaline, Ferretnose spun around and clamped her jaws around the eagle's wing, wincing as it battered her with the other, trying with no avail to reach her chest with its fearsome talons.

Ferretnose used Teeth Grip, dealing 8 damage and using 20 stamina. Eagle is stunned for 3 turns!
