A Brewing Storm [Open]

Stormkit had raced out of the nursery, she was growing and didn't want to be stuck in that small den any longer than she had to be. Her movements didn't reflect her name, for she moved nimbly and gracefully but her appearance reflected the name. Her blue gray fur was a dark as the harshest of Storm clouds. Her personality sometimes seemed to reflect her name as well. She was told her mother named her after her. Viperstorm.. The queen had died giving birth to her.. Her father died a few moons before. Not getting to see his kits birth. She was an orphan in her clan but she never felt like it. Her clan was her family, and she loved her clan. Amber eyes scanned the camp looking for something to do. Maybe one of the other kits had something for her?

Honeykit sat in the clearing, knocking a ball of moss between her paws as her eyes watched it roll back and forth. She wanted to bother some of the warriors, to hear stories from them but...She also didn't want to get underneath anybody paws and so was simply trying to distract herself. She huffed, wishing she was an apprentice already so she could listen to whatever stories her mentor would have for her. The sound of nearby paws caught her ear, her yellow eyes flickering over to see Stormkit wandering from the nursery.

She was aware of the kit, both having lost their mothers so early on...She was now finally old enough to have a grasp of what had happened to her own mother and it made it every so more painfully aware of why her father rarely spoke her name...But from what she had heard, Stormkit had no parents. Her whiskers twitched as she glanced down at the ball of moss that had rolled to a stop in her distraction...Carefully picking it up on her jaws before she got to her paws and trotted toward the other kit. "Stormkit!" she greeted, trying to sound as casually as she could through the moss ball despite the fact that she hadn't really spoken to the younger she-cat. Come to a stop, she dropped the ball and gently nudged it toward her. "Um...Do you want to play some moss ball with me?"

At the sound of her name Stormkit's eyes turned over to Honeykit. She hadn't even noticed the other kit sitting out in the camp. Maybe it was because she was quiet? Stormkit tilted her head in question wondering what Honeykit had wanted from her until she asked about the mossball. Stormkit wanted to smack herself for that one considering she could clearly see it at the other kit's jaws until she dropped it. "Sure! It will be fun to play!" She also wanted to see how good she was at catching things. It wouldn't be too much longer before she was an apprentice so she needed to work on some of her skills too.

The pale yellow she-cat's eyes glimmered as Stormkit agreed to play. She didn't know the kit all that well and had been slightly worried that she was going to turn down the offer...Which she would have accepted gracefully but couldn't help but feel relieved that the other kit was so open to play with her. "Perfect!" Honeykit purred, reaching down and hooking the ball with one of her claws before she tossed it into the air and sent it sailing toward Stormkit.

Stormkit wanted to catch in the air but she missed. While her form looked great her accuracy not so much. So she turned and chased after it before grabbing onto it. She rolled it a little bit to make sure it stayed in shape before tossing it back to the other kit. "Whoever made that ball did a good job." It seemed to hold up well to their playing.

Honeykit watched as the ball rolled just short of her, coming to a rest at her paws as she hooked a claw into it, shaking it a bit at the other kit's comment. "You're right," she noted Every time she tried to make a mossball, it always ended up falling apart so easily. "Honestly...I'm not sure who made this one, I just found it and decided to play with it," she admitted sheepishly, hoping that the creator of the ball didn't mind that the two had wandered off with it. Honestly, she wouldn't have been so surprised it it had been made by an older cat who was just playing with the kits. She shook her head as she finally tossed the ball back to Stormkit, happy to be having a great time with the other kit.

"I don't think I have ever made one that good." Stormkit commented. She didn't even think of the possibility that it could be someone else's Hopefully it wasn't important. The blue gray she-cat chased after the ball skidding a bit as it came to a halt a bit more suddenly than she expected. She let out a small squeak as she slid just a bit trying to maintain her balance. Once it was finally corrected she quickly forgot about her slip and tossed the ball back in the direction of Honeykit. It was fun to just simply play, and not have to think about other things for a moment.

As Honeykit caught the moss ball, there was a moment of hesitation as she looked down at it. "Well...Why don't we practice making them?" she offered, glancing over toward the nursery. She was pretty sure she had seen some moss thrown about nearby, she was certain there would be enough for them to make their own moss balls. "Maybe...A contest? To see who can make the best ball that lasts the longest? But if you want, we can just keep playing with this one!" she added, her tail swishing with playful excitement.
