Catching Up {Closed}

In the days that had passed since the start of her captivity, Hailpaw had more or less gotten used to her duties around the island camp. The stares directed her way still prickled, but she seemed have grown more skilled at ignoring them. At times, she almost wanted to laugh at herself. What had happened to the she-cat who had been so confident and fearless in battle? It was not like her old self to be so on edge because of a couple of hostile gazes; the old Hailpaw might have rejoiced to know that an entire clan was against her. But perhaps this change was a sign that she had grown. She was tired of the pointless fighting that had brought her and her loved ones so much pain. The rush of adrenaline that came with danger still thrilled her, but there was something dearer to her now―her family. And speaking of her family, there was Pricklebush.

Hailpaw had been surprised to find out that her brother was training RiverClan's medicine cat. One could say that the devotion the healers had toward StarClan (ha, she knew Pricklebush had none of it) was greater than the animosity dividing the two clans; or perhaps there was simply no other available mentor for Mistlepaw. Either way, this was an opportunity Hailpaw was all too grateful for. One afternoon, she caught the spiky-furred tom emerging from the medicine den. It was the first time she had seen him ever since she had come to RiverClan, and her paws seemed to freeze. The apprentice cast a quick glance about. Her RiverClan guard met her gaze warily, but he lingered a respectful distance away. "Pricklebush!" She called out.
