Finding herself shaken off with ease, Mosspaw scarmbled back to her paws with a quiet huff of disappointment. Upon being praised, her tail lifted up and she smiled gratefully at her mentor. Nodding, she gazed at her mentor again, planning her next attack. After a moment, she quickly ran at Emberheart again, but instead of jumping this time bowled right into her side.

Emberheart purred in satisfaction at Mosspaw's attack, once more allowing herself to be knocked down before picking herself up again. "Another good tactic," she complimented. "However, it's best used against an opponent who isn't expecting an attack, and I was prepared. For instance, if you find yourself able to sneak up on an opponent without them noticing, it would be even more effective. In addition, you should always be on guard: if you've thought up that tactic by yourself, chances are your opponent has also considered it, and may try to use it on you. Once more."

Mosspaw flicked her ear in acknowledgement, already planning the next attack on her mentor. Her eyes flitted to a couple of different spots before she dashed under Emberheart, flipped to her back and began pushing up on her underbelly with sheathed paws.

"Very good," Emberheart nodded. "Now, I'm going to show you something special. There are some techniques that are taught only to ThunderClan apprentices, passed down from mentor to apprentice, season after season. The first... Is this." She retreated into the bushes without further explanation, waiting until she was entirely out of sight before coming out of them as quickly as she could, pouncing on thin air. "Now, I'd like you to try that."

Straightening up, the apprentice purred at her mentors praise. She sat down, curling her tail around her as she watched what her mentor. She tilted her head as she retreated, curious to what Emberheart would do. She stiffened as the she-cat burst from the bushes, relaxing as she pounced on the air in the middle of the clearing. Nodding enthusiastically, she stood up. "Alright! Like this?" Mosspaw started to back into a bush before she suddenly hissed in pain. She sounds around and realized that she had inadvertently back right into a thorn bush. You mouse brain! she thought as she cast an embarrassed look at Emberheart before picking a new spot, free of brambles. The tip of her tail disappeared into the bushes, and after a couple heart beats she suddenly came barreling out of the bushes as fast as her small legs could carry her, pouncing on a stray branch that lay in the clearing. Crunching it under her paws, she looked to Emberheart excitedly. "Did I do it?"

"Yes, you did," Emberheart purred, amused at the sight. "Now, are you prepared for the second technique?" She didn't wait for an answer. Instead, Emberheart started climbing up the nearest tree, and once she was roughly an even distance between the lowest branches and the ground below, she sprung off the side, landing to Mosspaw's side. "That is my favorite strategy."

Mosspaw smiled at Emberheart, her tail twitching happily. She opened her mouth to answer the question, but closed it as she realized her mentor had already started... Climbing a tree? She tilted her head in curiosity, watching how high she climbed and how. When she jumped to the space next to her, she let out a quick yowl of surprise. "That was so cool! How did you climb the tree? Like this?" She walked over to the tree, unsheathing her claws and tried to hook them into the bark. She winced as one of them got caught on a particularly stiff piece of wood, but kept inching up until she had to place her hind legs on the wood as well. Keeping an eye on the marks left by her mentors claws, she slowly and carefully inched her way up the tree, stopping where the marks did. She looked down into the clearing at Emberheart. "I'm so high! I bet I can see camp from here! She looked around for a moment before remembering what it was she was doing up here and berated herself again. She looked down to the clearing again, and realized that yes, she was high up... Very high up. Taking a deep breath, she pushed off of the tree, wobbling slightly in the air before landing next to the stick from before. She shakily opened the eyes she didn't realize she closed, and upon seeing that she was standing on solid ground she jumped up, twisting in the air with excitement. "I did it! Emberheart, I did it! Did you see that?"

Though she didn't mean to, Emberheart felt herself laugh slightly at Mosspaw's antics, trying not to act too pleased at being called 'cool'. "I'm sure you can," she teased lightly, waiting for the jump. When it happened, she cheered. "You did it!" she shouted with pride. "I think, as a reward, we can head back to camp early. You've learned enough for one day, as far as I'm concerned. But what do you think?"

Mosspaw bounced over to her mentor, purring the entire way. "Thank you Emberheart! I can't wait to show everyone. I'll work really hard at the moves you showed me!" She nodded, the tiredness starting to seep back in as the adrenaline wore off. Stifling a yawn, she continued. "I can't wait to learn even more... Will we go hunting next time?" Her eyes sparkle momentarily through the dull tiredness, and she followed her mentor to head back to camp.
