Ice Skating (Closed)

It was cold. A thick layer of ice covered the river that marked the border, and the rushing of water beneath it could barely be heard. The wind blew the small amount of snow through the air, every so often sending the air into an explosion of flake before they settled down again. No prey could be scented in the woods, and no fish could be scented in the river. It seemed like the clans would starve, if they didn't die of the cold first. Tensions between the clans were always high during the harshest time of year, as no clan could spare even a small bit of prey. Everything seemed bleak and dismal. Nothing seemed to contain hope and warmth. Except for some of the cats themselves.


"Isn't this the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?" Clearpaw skipped through the snow happily, looking up at the icy trees. To him, none of this seemed bad, or even  just cold. It all seemed like a masterpiece, and like all masterpieces, required a small price to see. To him, the cold was beyond worth the beauty he was witnessing all around them.


"It's just a little further. Then we can go back to camp," Nutfur promised Larkfeather, trudging her way through the snow. It was times like these where all hope seemed lost, and she wanted more than ever before to have Spotfur to come running home to. At least just warmth, food, and love. With each step her paws began to freeze more and more, and she hoped more than anything that they wouldn't meet a ThunderClan or SkyClan patrol.

Acornfall, who was leading the patrol, nodded. "Yeah, it is..." she said, although she didn't focus on beauty as much as she did as an apprentice. Everything that had happened to her told her that beauty is extra; family is most important. Catching a whiff of Twoleg scent - stale, she thought - she kept on patrolling the border, reaching the River. Looking down ihto the river, the brown tabby said, "We would also probably need a hunting patrol for our clanmates, even though SkyClan is one of the smaller clans."

Larkfeather nodded slowly, the bitter cold biting at his fur. As they walked to the River, he thought he saw cats, but he dismissed them as his imagination. The brown tabby watched the frozen river and saw his reflection - and another brown she-cat's on the other side of the river. "Uh...Nutfur..."

Cloverpaw padded behind the two other cats in the patrol, sweeping her emerald-green gaze across the white sheet of snow covering the once soft ground. Snow was ok to Cloverpaw, but it wasn't a nice as what was there in green leaf. Leaf-bare always looked so dull and boring. it was as if the season sucked all of the color from the world. The only colors she saw were shades of grey and brown, while Greenleaf had the colors of blooming flowers and plants. "How is this pretty?" she asked, fluffing up her fur a gust of wind blew their way. As they approached the river, Cloverpaw saw that the light on the river looked kind of nice. But getting on it could be dangerous. They didn't know how thick the ice was, so a cat could fall in. Hearing Acornfall's suggestion to hunt, she said "Yeah, I think the clan could do with so-" Cloverpaw stopped. She fixed her gaze on something on the other side of the river."PSSSSSSST. I think there's some cats over there" she whispered.
