She groaned and rolled her eyes, "Quit calling me that, for Magpiestar's sake... or I'll wipe that smug grin off of your face." What was with this guy? Fuming silently(Partly at the fact he'd successfully picked up a piece of prey before her, not that she'd admit it), the dark tabby she-cat trekked further onwards, scouring the frozen, foggy marshland around them for any signs of life. A flicker of movement and a flash of dull grey fur ahead of her caught her eye and in and instant she had dropped into a hunter's crouch with practiced grace. She slipped silently along the fog laden marsh, weaving around a small shrub before leaping atop her quarry and quickly ending the mouse's life in one clean bite. Lifting her head, she narrowed her good eye on her clanmate before raising her chin triumphantly. Hah!

She caught herself momentarily after that, realizing that she was acting like a kit. Getting competitive over hunting, threatening to beat the feathers out of a cat considerably younger than her. She wrinkled her nose at her own immaturity, but at the same time couldn't bring herself to deny the fact she was... kind of enjoying it.

Asterspark seemed to grin a little more at Thornbriar's successful catch, though it wasn't at all an unkind grin. He softly chuckled. "Heh, mice catch, Thorny. I shrew you could do it. Seems we're on a vole now, and good thing too. We rodent want another predator comin' in and makin' a mouse of things, would we?"

She internally groaned as he completely shot the little victory buzz with a flurry of even more terrible wordplay. "Are you ever gonna run out of bad puns." She grumbled, padding past him. She was half tempted to just try and leave him behind but, before she seriously considered the idea, she caught sight of his tail. She considered him for a long moment. The fox had done a number on him...

He hadn't said a word about being in pain.

In fact, if it hadn't been for the ear-piercing shriek earlier she wouldn't have even realized he was hurt barring the blood dripping from his blue-grey fur. Thornbriar lifted a brow, turning her gaze to his with a hint respect flickering in the fern green depths. It took guts to be able to deal with something like that without so much as a whimper after the fact. She was no medicine cat, but she'd seen - and felt - enough injuries in her lifetime to know. The scars marring her flank attested to that much. The only other cat she knew who could take a hit like that and keep walking like it hadn't happened was currently dead and gone.

She winced.

Realizing she'd been staring at him for just a bit too long, she flicked her ear and kept walking, a touch of embarrassment warming her pelt. The she-cat had a feeling that the tom might take it the wrong way, and she did not want to have to deal with that particular misunderstanding

The blueish-gray tom kept his one-eyed gaze on Thornbriar’s. It wasn’t easy to miss her sudden glance at his tail, which was bleeding and matted from the fox attack. She probably wasn’t concerned, though. She didn’t seem like the super sensitive type anyway, more like a rough-and-tough molly who just wanted to get things done. Kind of like Sparkfeather... He forced the thought away. If he thought about her now, he might break down into tears again. And right now, he needed to prove to his Clanmate — to all his Clanmates — that he was just fine.

Noticing her pelt prickling slightly with embarrassment, Asterspark gave a soft amused huff of breath, but said nothing to further humiliate the proud ShadowClanner. Instead, he meowed, ”So, you wanna keep huntin’, or do ya think we have a bit enough haul t’ bring back?”

She flicked her tail at the feeling of the tom's mismatched gaze boring into her pelt. Yeah, there was no reason to continue this... interesting little disaster of a hunting patrol. "Camp." She mewed brusquely, walking ahead of him and setting off towards home.

The tom behind her had certainly made this whole thing... eventful, to say the least.

Asterspark offered a lazy grin and a casual shrug. "Okay. I gotta say, though, it was pretty fun gettin' t' hang out with ya, Thorny. Maybe we can go huntin' together another time." It only took him a few moments to gather up his catches before he began following the molly back to camp.
