A New World to Explore

Tinytip smiled once they finally arrived at the Broken Pools, now frozen due to the leaf-bare coldness. The small she-cat smiled at her son and purred kindly. "We finally arrived, Alderkit. This place is known as the Broken Pools and here's where most kittens learn how to swim but since it's still too cold, you and the other kits in the nursery will have to learn once they become apprentices." The tuxedo she-cat as she slowly approached the frozen puddles with delight. It reminded her of her old days as an apprentice, when she enjoyed sliding through the surface with other apprentices like Batpaw and Jaypaw. With one paw, she tested if the ice was thick enough to handle her weight and a smile was drawn on her face when she made sure it was safe. Even though Alderkit was close to the size of an apprentice, it was clear that there was almost no liquid water under the crystalline surface so it wouldn't be a trouble for him to step in and have fun with the other kit she had brought with them.

The she-kit had been following Tinytip, keeping herself close to her but also looking up and down, excited about this new world outside the camp. Even though his mother wasn't there, Brookkit had learned to trust Tinytip since she was always in the nursery, being kind to all the kits. However, she did not feel the same trust for her kit, Alderkit. They barely knew each other because he was older than her and, to be honest, she found it hard to interact with cats of her same rank. "What will we do then, Tinytip, if we can't swim?" She asked politely as she walked closer to the frozen puddle. As the curious kitten, she was, the siamese she-cat put one paw on the ice, noticing how cold it was at the touch but at the same time, so slippery!

The Broken Pools? Cool, Alderkit was excited about the spectacular view, Yeah, what are we gonna do mom? And... Mmmm.... so what's your name fellow kitten? He wavered his tail joyfully while asking.

The she-kit just looked at the tom-kit with wide open, blue eyes. Her curious smile soon dropped as she lowered her head, a bit shy. The small siamese kitten curled her tail around her body and looked away when she finally answered, forcing a friendly smile that was kind of awkward. "Name is Brookkit." She mewed shyly, stepping back to Tinytip's legs where she felt safer.

On the other side, the tuxedo queen simply chuckled light-hearted by the reaction of the younger kit, who clearly had troubles communicating with other kits. Tinytip walked to Alderkit's side and pushed him with her head to the iced puddle just to join him afterwards. The small warrior laughed as she slid through the ice like a little kit. "We're here to have some fun, of course! When I was an apprentice, I used to play here with other kits and fellow apprentices and try to catch our tails while we attempted to walk through the slippery ice. Come on! You both should try it." The she-cat winced at her foster son before rolling over the ice to the snow back again.
