River Flows in You

Waking up to the early dawn's light filtering in the warriors' den through the reeds, Flurryshine slowly opened her eyes. She hadn't gotten much sleep last night, having spent most of her time by the medicine den until far past moonhigh when she was finally forced to retire for the night due to her being kicked out by Goldeneye. How in StarClan's name could that grumpy medicine cat blame her? After all, they were her sons she and Fallowpaw were trying to heal! Sootpaw seemed to have had another one of his episodes -- one that Goldeneye was able to define as seizures -- and Icepaw was still dangling on the edge between life and death after being maimed by ruthless ThunderClanners.

She tried not to think too much about her sons' fates after this whole ordeal would be over. She just... didn't want to think about losing either one of them. Besides... she was still a warrior. Scorchclaw had entrusted her with a second apprentice, Copperpaw, not too long after the death of her first apprentice Firepaw, Dewshine's son. She wouldn't make the same mistake twice. Now that she didn't have any kits to care for, she could dedicate all her time to training her new apprentice and make sure he didn't die in battle as well.

After a quick head-to-toe grooming and a brief visit to the medicine den to check up on Sootpaw and Icepaw -- in which she was, of course, turned away by an impatient Goldeneye who claimed the fluffy white queen was blocking out the light -- she then made her way over to the apprentices' den where she poked her head into the mouth of the den, quickly seeking out her apprentice's amber pelt. "Copperpaw, it's now dawn. You need to get up now so we can train."
