Minkpaw listened as the first voice cut through the others again, his eyes probing to try and see who it was. Through the bars, he could just see a smallish tabby form, his posture commanding as he continued. Then the tom turned side-on, his dim form probing at something on what he called a 'cage'. So that's what these are.... He nodded absently, filing that away as he watched Lynxpaw chew at whatever he'd found. Frustrated energy filled his paws, and he paced the cold surface of his own cage, eyeing it and trying to find something out of place. At what was probably the front, facing where the twolegs had dumped them out, there was an intricate weaving of the same stuff the rest of the cage was made out of.
Keeping an ear cocked to the other's struggle, he moved forwards, tugging at a silver bit he assumed was what the other had found on his own cage. He jiggled it as best he could, the bars of his cage rattling as he pushed and shoved at it for what seemed like ages. A moment later, there was a triumphant cry mixed with a yelp of pain from Lynxpaw, and he drew back from his own cage wall, panting. "It won't open."

Aspenpaw gulped and was brought to silence by the downpour of reprimands against him. They were right; he had to calm down if he wished to see the great rolling moors ever again. He was loathe to the idea of being manhandled by wobbly, clumsy twolegs for all his days. He watched hesitantly as Lynxpaw pried his prison open and stepped out. The sound of the monster roared in his ears and paralyzed him. On quivering paws, he reached for the same silver twig. He trembled as he tried to wrap his paws around it and push it from side to side. Suddenly, he realized it was hooked at one end. He lifted the hooked end and slowly slid it to the side...

Pop. Aspenpaw nearly meowed in excitement. He slammed his shoulder against the front of the enclosure and tumbled out unscathed. "I'm out! What now?"

Batpaw watched the others attempt to escape with varying degrees of success, and finally forced herself to move. She could do this. Lynxpaw could do it, right? So she could probably get out of here easily enough, she reasoned, before trying to fiddle with a stick in her prison that looked slightly different from the rest of them. She pressed it gently from each direction with her paw, stretching slightly to do so, until it finally shifted and an exit swung open. She was small herself, certainly, but that didn't mean she liked being squished into equally small spaces, so she made sure to escape it as swiftly as she could. Despite the gravity of the situation, she purred with satisfaction.

Mothpaw wasted no time in her attempt as soon as she thought she understood the basics of what to do. There was a silver stick, or something like that, and she had to move it, and then she would be out of the Twoleg thing. It sounded simple enough, at least. Unfortunately, Mothpaw wasn't very good at keeping herself together: what she was good at, by herself, was channeling her emotions. So, channeling the anger she felt at the situation they were in and the Twolegs that had capured them, as well as her anger toward herself (this whole thing had been her idea, and now Silentpaw was here too, and if they never got home it would always be her fault), she swatted furiously at the metal sticks that lined the thing she was stuck in with blind frustration, until one finally moved and allowed her to escape. Unfortunately, she wasn't sure what to do next, so she was stuck just outside her prison, unable to keep completely still.

"Help the others." Lynxpaw's voice was jagged as he drew his tongue across his shoulder. "Right- Silentpaw, was it?" He shook himself, drawing closer to one of the cages. Inside, a small, blue-eyed she-cat was fiddling with one of the sticks. "We're going to get you out of here."
Wincing, the small tom turned, sniffing at the sticks. He shook his head. "The stick isn't broken like mine was- b-but don't worry! I have an idea." The sticks could break, right? His was broken, so surely they could. The logic was simple: If they couldn't find a break, they'd just have to make one.

The small tom took several steps back. "Look out," He mewed. He didn't want to hurt Silentpaw accidentally. "One... Two..." Lynxpaw took a deep breath and hurled himself at the stick, twisting to thrust his uninjured shoulder into the loose stick. It broke with a snap. "There... you go. Watch out for... the jagged ends..." He panted, stepping back so the apprentice could clamber out of the... whatever it was. Cage?

Realizing that not all of them were freed, Batpaw looked between the two who were still trapped. She moved to the one that called himself Eaglepaw, taking a moment to observe the contraption from the outside. It looked like it would take a different angle to open from this side. Reaching up with her paws, she pushed at it until it clicked out of place.

Eaglepaw was free. Well, as free as any of them were, at least.

Eaglepaw hopped out, nodding his thanks to Mothpaw, before pacing around, sniffing at the corners.

(OOC: Oof sorry for not really replying and the trashpost. I've kinda lost motivation with Eaglepaw and am just waiting for the fox)

Minkpaw got out eventually.
