Winner will be the one with the highest score. If we have two highest scores, they will be sent to search for one more herb to decide the winner.

And finally, the day had come. The last event of this end of the season. This time the group was larger and he was grateful for that because more than ever, the medicine cats needed herbs for the leaf-bare. If warriors and apprentices worked together, they can get a good bunch of them. The leader guided the group through the territory and stopped not too far away from the camp. Thanks to Fallowpaw's indications, he had managed to learn some of the most needed herbs for the harsh times and he would have to show them to his clanmates too. That was why he was bringing some examples in his mouth for them.

Once they were all settled, the leader left each herb in front of him, separating each of them with a paw-length of distance. He addressed his whole clan with a flick of his tail, establishing some order and silence. If they wanted this project to be successful, there had to be a complete understanding of the rules. "First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your cooperation in this event. Medicine cats already do a hard work for our clan but they need our help as well to endure the leaf-bare and that's why we are here. Each of you will go and search for any of these herbs. Since I know you have little knowledge of herbs, Fallowpaw gave me these ones as examples of what you must search. Catmint, Tansy, Chervil, Juniper berries, Goldenrod, Coltsfoot, Horsetail and Marigold." The tom listed the plant at the same time he pointed each one with a movement of his right paw so his clanmates would know the names, shape and smell. "Those are plants that Fallowpaw and Goldeneye need the most. The best tracker will be rewarded with fewer patrols and the honour of being the best tracker in the clan. Go now... and I pray to Starclan the best to all of you."

Flurryshine's tail swished eagerly behind her. She had a lot of fun racing in the river during the swimming competition, though honestly competition on land made her feel much more comfortable. She really hoped she could win this next contest, not only so that she could help Goldeneye and Fallowpaw keep their herbs restocked during the colder moons of leaf-bare... but also because she really wanted to earn herself bragging rights as being labeled RiverClan's best tracker. Oh, how proud Snowblossom and Dewshine would be of her...

Once Jaystar gave the signal to begin the search, Flurryshine raced off into RiverClan territory to begin her search immediately. She first made her way to the beech copse, sniffing carefully among the greenery growing further from the river -- she didn't want to have to deal with a wet, soggy pelt for the rest of the search. She was rather quick to spot a few golden buds and small flowers standing upright among a patch of grass, and she recognized the herb immediately to be goldenrod. Excitedly, she rushed forward, gently nipped three stems worth of the flowery medicine, and turned to resume her hunt elsewhere.

She unfortunately wasn't able to find much else within RiverClan territory -- nothing that she could recognize to be herbs anyway -- but she did remember of a very special, delicate, and precious herb that grew outside of RiverClan territory, one that absolutely mandatory to have in stock during leaf-bare. Hiding the goldenrod within a clump of cattails near the riverbank, she swiftly swam across it -- it seemed she couldn't avoid getting wet today after all... -- and skirted the edge of SkyClan territory into the outskirts of Twolegplace. It took her quite a while searching through the neat and pretty Twoleg gardens before she finally found what she was looking for: a clump of precious catmint.

The delicious, tempting scent of the most well-known and most necessary herb wafting into her mouth as the white molly carried the few larger fuzzy leaves in her mouth was making her salivate. What she wouldn't give to just gobble one of them up, maybe even two. But she wasn't going to. The one leaf she'd eat could very well be the one less leaf that could save a cat's life while fighting greencough. Swimming back across the river, collecting her hidden goldenrod along the way, she finally met back up with Jaystar and deposited her findings before him. "I was able to find some goldenrod near the beech copse, and a small clump of catmint by Twolegplace. I'd have brought back more catmint if I could find more."

Eaglepaw had not participated in the last two eventful RiverClan competitions due to her low confidence, but for this one she was sure she could outbest most of the warriors and apprentices that were competing with her. She had already been familiarized with tracking down cats to mess with them, so how hard could this be?
This competition was hers, for sure.
Her paws tingled with anticipation, and the moment Jaystar gave the signal to start, she immediately ran off.

Instead of scanning the territory, Eaglepaw raced off towards the Twoleg gardens. It would be foolish of her and certainly cost her points for her to aimlessly wander the territory, considering she had no experience with where to find herbs inside the territory. Sneaking past the garden's poor only defense, the wooden fences, the pale tabby was easily able to get inside. She caught a trace of catmint, but as she started off towards it, she could see another cat racing to grab it. They were much closer, so it was useless to continue running. Apart from realizing this, Eaglepaw now could see that she could not be too lenient when looking for herbs- if you saw one, run and grab, otherwise, you ran the risk of someone else getting it before you. Looking around and tasting the air, the cat caught a scent of tansy. She immediately started towards it and grasped it with her jaws. Trying to find more tansy, Eaglepaw glanced around and saw more cats entering the garden, and it would now be much harder to find herbs here. Realizing she now had nowhere else to go, Eaglepaw started off back to Jaystar.

Once she came back to him, she dipped her head and dropped the collection of tansy she had gathered. "I was only able to find some tansy, but I'm sure it will be put to good use."

Swanpetal was less confident of her herb-finding skills than she was of her skills in the water, particularly after her initial loss, but she wasn't going to let anything stop her: not even her own self-doubt. After all, whether she was confident in herself or not, the medicine cats still needed herbs to treat their wounds. So at Jaystar's call, she took off towards the Twolegplace. It had been a long time now since she had been captured and made her way back to RiverClan, but perhaps luck would be on her side today and she could find something useful there.

On her way, she found some marigold growing by the water and gathered it quickly, hoping to find something else as she went. No such luck struck her, however, as she made her way to the edge of the territory and looked it over. There was nothing there, or if there was she couldn't tell, and eventually she made her way back to Jaystar with only the marigold in her jaws. She kept her head held high, despite wanting to sink into the water and never come up again. Why couldn't it have been a fishing competition, she wondered silently?

Settling the marigold down before her leader, one of the few cats who had her complete respect (and as such one of the few she never wanted to disappoint), she spoke quietly. "I went to the edge of the Twolegplace, but this was all I could find. I hope it's enough."

Hailsong was quite satisfied with the results of the swimming race and was more than ready to help her foster mother by finding some herbs for her and Fallowpaw. The dilute calico she-cat left the place as soon as her father finished his speech and wondered into Riverclan's lands, using the best of her tracking skills to find some fresh herbs.

First of all, she decided to start with the Sunningrocks. Once when she was a kit, she used to visit Goldeneye's den and overhear what she said about herbs and where to find them. She was curious and now that curiosity led her to this place. The rocky land was perfect to find certain types of herbs and soon her nose caught the scent of Chervil. Not wasting a second, she removed the earth around it and pull it out carefully so it wouldn't get damaged.

Since she still had time, the experienced warrior made her way to the Twolegplace, which forced her to walk great distances yet she managed to find what she was looking: catmint. As fast as a fish, the she-cat sneaked into the garden and took some herbs from it before she was noticed by kittypets or dogs. Soon after, she was heading back to Riverclan's lands just in time. The dilute calico droped the herbs in front of Jaystar and smiled. "Sorry if I'm late but I managed to find chervil and catmint. I hope it can be useful."

Another event!? Berrycloud couldn't be happier. And this one was even more important for the clan! New plants for the storage of the medicine cats would surely help Riverclan during the tough times that leaf-bare would bring. Even if tracking wasn't exactly his best skill, the large warrior was ready to do his best for the clan.

However, he wasn't as lucky as he thought he would be. Even when he wandered too far away into the Twoleg gardens and even almost entered the den of what it seemed to be a predator' his nose led him to nothing. Discouraged, the newly appointed warrior returned to his clan leader when it was getting too late and dipped his head his head to the leader, sorry. "I failed, Jaystar. I was unable to find a single piece of herb that was worthy. I'm sorry..." He mewed softly.

Scorchclaw studied the herb samples intently, trying to brand every detail into his memory. This competition was actually the first time in his life that he would have to search for herbs. Perhaps it was just his luck, but he had never been ordered to accompany one of the medicine cats into the forest to restock herb supplies. Needless to say, he wasn't very confident in his tracking skills for such reasons. Still, if he could memorize the appearance of every single herb Jaystar had presented, things would be a little easier for him. With leaf bare so near, RiverClan needed every one of these herbs they could get. The fluffy deputy would never turn down such an opportunity to serve his clan. He wasn't looking to be the best tracker; that honor could be left to someone else.

When the competition started, Scorchclaw headed straight to the main river. While he might have had an idea of what each herb looked like now, he still did not know where to find them. A small part of him wished that Jaystar would have at least told them where the herbs would be most likely to grow. Then again, the silver tabby leader might not know either. He supposed that this was the point of the competition--to seek out the plants on his own. With such thoughts guiding his pawsteps, he soon arrived at a favorite haunt of his. He had simply chosen this place because he often came here, but was there really anything of value here? It was a little too late to start doubting his choice. He strolled along the far edges of the shore, where gravel transitioned into soil. His sharp gaze ran along the greenery growing alongside, trying to make out anything that looked familiar. At length, his suspicions were confirmed. There was nothing here; at least, none of the needed herbs were at this portion of the river. With a soft sigh, he turned and was about to head back into the trees.

A flash of yellow caught his eye. With a start, Scorchclaw whipped around again. Had he seen what he thought he had? A little further down the shore, bright flowers almost laughably conspicuous, was goldenrod. At least, he was pretty sure that they were goldenrod. The plants closely resembled the herb sample that Jaystar had had. Spirits lifting, the large tabby bounded over. Warily, he examined the small clump of plants. This... is really goldenrod, right? It would be a waste of time if he were to take these back, only to find out that they were useless weeds. Then again, it would also be a waste if he overlooked these and they really were goldenrod. He didn't know too much about plants, but they looked like goldenrod to him, so he would just assume they were. He bent down, grimacing as he carefully snipped the plants off at the base.

Afterwards, Scorchclaw didn't have much luck finding anything else. He searched the outer edges of RiverClan territory, even going to the Twoleg farm. When enough time had passed, he decided to head back. The large deputy gingerly carrying the goldenrod was an almost amusing picture, the cheerful flowers not befitting his serious expression. Padding up to Jaystar, he set the herbs down at the leader's paws. "I found what looks to be goldenrod." He stated, very simply.

Snowblossom honestly had no idea what she was doing. Except for the one time that Shade had beaten her up, she had spent very little time in the medicine cat den. Which herbs were which? She had no idea... She looked at them closely, studying them for a short while, before darting off to see what she could find. Though she rushed around for quite a while, looking carefully at each clump of plants she saw, she didn't find any recognizable herbs. She thought she'd spotted goldenrod once, but the deputy darted in front of her first, not noticing that she was nearby. Eventually, she returned empty-pawed, wearing a dejected expression at her utter failure. At least she'd tried.

Gingerstripe was still somewhat embarrassed at his swimming failure, though Snowblossom had told him not to think too much about it, and he was determined to do better at this herb tracking competition. Before his exile, he had been in charge of helping the medicine cat Roaringblaze for a moon, and during that time he'd become somewhat adept at recognizing different herbs. Hopefully, he'd remember what he was taught.

He darted off immediately when Jaystar gave the word, trying to stay away from other cats so he wouldn't be following them. It took a while, but after all his searching, he managed to find a small bunch of yellow flowers that he was fairly sure were tansy. He seized them eagerly in his jaws and ran back, depositing them at the leader's paws. He hadn't done as well as some other cats, by looking around, but at least he'd found something.

He had planned to rush out again and search for more, but when he saw Snowblossom's expression, he stopped in his tracks. The sweet and kind queen who was Dewshine's friend has befriended him almost immediately after his arrival on RiverClan, and been nice to them and their kits ever since. She'd even comforted him after his spectacular failure at the swimming competition, though she'd lost to the deputy herself. When he saw that she had no herbs, instead of running to get more, he went over to comfort her. "Don't worry, Snowblossom," he told her with a soft smile. "You still beat me at swimming. And besides, who needs herbs when we have so many other cats who can get them? I wish there was a competition for kindness. Then, you'd beat everyone here paws-down."

At his words, the she-cat smiled, appreciating his efforts. "Thanks, Gingerstripe... I'm just being fish-brained, I guess. Sometimes I don't feel like a very good warrior, and you're amazing at everything- well, except swimming. But I appreciate the thought." She looked down, her green eyes dull and depressed. Losing her daughter had obviously done a number on her.

"You're one of the best cats in this Clan, Snowblossom, and you certainly have the most heart. I'd give you my herbs, if I could."

Mottledspark and Lightstep followed Jaystar side by side, both having lost the earlier swimming competition despite their best efforts. Mottledspark oftentimes considered himself to be one of the best trackers in RiverClan, but Lightstep had noticed that his friend seemed to view himself as the best at just about everything. With that in mind, Lightstep wasn't certain what to expect when the Clan was led to a spot by camp and shown a selection of herbs to collect. The two listened to their leader attentively, and the promise of a new title made Mottledspark tremble with excitement.

At Jaystar's release, Lightstep turned to mew "Good luck" to Mottledspark, but the tom was already gone, racing off to begin his hunt. With a chuckle, the sleek white warrior set off as well, his lips parted and eyes searching hopefully for the herbs they needed.

Lightstep found himself moving towards Twolegplace, and at one point he thought he scented his Clanmate, Berrypaw, as well. Both of them seemed to be searching for catmint, but with leaf-bare coming it was no surprise. it would be extremely useful in case of an outbreak of coughing. The tom made his way through some thick bushes, and once he broke through that new strong smell hit his nose, and he felt his heart beat faster with excitement. Had he really found catmint? Lightstep searched around, and after several moments a thick clump of catmint caught his eye. He purred and nipped the stems gently, then began to pad back in the direction he'd come.

When he was only a few fox-lengths away from where he'd been, the white warrior spotted a large white flower with thick leaves. "Sherbul!" he mumbled through his mouth full of leaves as he recognized chervil, and he set down his earlier haul to collect the herb. When he had grabbed as much of both as he could carry, he made his way back to Jaystar to await judgement.
