Sandkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep hopped up onto the Tallrock. The tom's eyes held a joyful twinkle in them. Yet another lucky kit was ready to leave the nursery to begin their training as an apprentice. The tom put on his serious face before beginning the ceremony. He was internally excited for the young cat. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Sandkit stepped forward from the den, her tan bengal pelt reflecting the week sun off of it as she patiently waited for the ceremony to continue

The brown tom looked down at young Sandkit before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Sandkit, please step forward." Once the she-kit did so, the deputy nodded approvingly and then began to speak again, "Sandkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sandpaw. Oakberry will be your mentor. I know that she will pass down everything she knows on to you."

Sandpaw paused and looked at her new mentor, Oakberry. She had never met them, but she was sure she would be a good mentor!

IC: Oakberry watched the ceremony, ears perked. It was nice for WindClan to be getting some new apprentices, and hopefully one day she'd be able to mentor one. Her green eyes's followed the she-cat as she stepped forward, her eyes narrowed slightly. Wasn't that one of Brindlestar's daughter? Oakberry wasn't too sure, she'd rather lost track of most things while in the medicine cat den, but her leg was almost fully healed, and she'd stayed out longer and longer each day. She was as fit as she could be, no thanks to Barleytuft insisting that she should rest all the time. She'd be ready to return to her regular duties any day now.

It seemed that day would be now, as Swiftstep appointed her Sandpaw's mentor. Oakberry rose to her paws, a little unsteady, due to the stiffness in her leg, but it quickly faded. Her leaf green eyes glanced to Swiftstep, why did he choose her, of all cats? There'd better be a good reason, and she was sure there was, but she just didn't understand.. Not after the events that had transpired a couple of moons ago. Never the less, she leaned forward and touched noses with Sandpaw, a soft smile worming it is way onto her face.
