Ferretkit's apprentice ceremony

His paws stepped heavily on slightly frosted ground. A nimble leap had a large dark tabby tom sitting poised on the rock that jutted over the small clearing of camp. There was a chill in the air, one that spoke of the leafbare to come. It settled in his bones, unwelcome and cold. It was the time of year for loss, and he couldn't bring himself to be excited about the weather. Instead, he tried to focus on the positive. There were kits to be apprenticed. Ones who would be able to help when prey ran scarce. As long as they were trained on time.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High-rock for a clan meeting!" He yowled, his voice breaking the silent mulling of cats as they shared tongues. His gaze fell onto the white and brown striped kit. Ferretkit, who was definitely old enough to be an apprentice. He regarded her with a smile that warmed away some of the cold. "Ferretkit, step forward."

Ferretkit looked up keenly from her spot in camp. Her stature had grown along with her optimism and pride. She felt the chill of the wind through her thin coat, but it did not bother her. She was excited to begin training. She had heard the whispers of Leafbare in every den, and, desperate to prove herself, she made it a personal challenge to be the most accomplished hunter in the apprentice den. Though, she had to admit, it was a bit of a stretch.

"My name is Ferretpaw... Ferretpaw..." she whispered to herself, trying to get used to the way it sounded on her tongue. The soon-to-be apprentice grinned widely at Marshstorm, signalling to him that she was ready to begin.

The deputy looked down on Ferretkit with a soft chuckle as she seemed to hesitate for a moment, but he carried on.
"Ferretkit, you have reached the age of six moons. It is now time for you to become an apprentice. From this day on, until you recieve your warrior name, you will be known as Ferretpaw." He declared, his voice raised so the full clan could hear him as he gestured for a she-cat to step forward.

"Pantherclaw will be your mentor." He watched her evenly as he spoke. "I hope you will teach her how to hunt and fight well." He added with a small nod to each of them. His tail high with confidence as he leapt down to join in the chanting of the clan.

Ferretpaw, flushed with pride, embraced the warm calling of her clan as she would her own mother. Though she was a young cat who had not known hardship, she appreciated the comradery and strength ThunderClan had. She was grateful for their love, and she knew she could honor them best by defending them with everything she had.

Pantherclaw stepped forward quietly and nodded smiling some vefore she touched noses with her apprebtice"training starts at early so make sure to get some rest"she mewed.
