Sootpaw's Training [Closed]

Wolfsong rolled his eyes, apprentices, always so impatient... As he heard the apprentice whisper he just simply meowed "Fine then, the next time we go out to train we can have a real battle and we'll see if you still find it as fun and I promise that I won't go easy on you kid. So if you want a real battle I will show you a real battle". He looked at Sootpaw, mabye that wasn't the response he should be giving him but he belived that it was best if Sootpaw got to experience it himself, then maybe he would realise that it wasn't so fun battling. "And no, we're not going back just yet, were gonna do some hunting training too, it won't take long, or well that depens on how long it takes for you to learn" he told him, maybe he was being a little hard on him now but he seemed like a cat that could handle it and besides, he couldn't just keep eating the prey from the prey pile with out helping to fill it up, especially not with leaf-bare just around the corner.

Sootpaw growled. A challenge is a challenge! He raised his voice. He would like a real battle. But he had not been at all affected by his mentors harsh tone. REAL battling with TEETH and CLAWS? He asked egarly. Maybe he was a little disrespectful to his mentor.. No. you were not. You were just stating the truth. Oh okay! Lets go hunt some mice! Sootkit walked off into the forest, no clue where he was going.

Wolfsong nodded "A real battle", Jaystar would not be happy with him but at the moment he didn't care too much. He then followed Sootpaw "Okay, remember to not get to close to the Thunderclan border, you'll be able to catch their scent. Now hunting crouch, do you know how a hunting crouch should look?" he asked, he looked at the young tom.

Yeessss? Sootkit crowned down. Legs tucked, tail up. The voice whispered. Sootpaw obeyed. Plan your route. Is there anything that can make noise in the way? Yes a thin stick. Ok go around it. Pawsteps light as air. Sootpaw maneuvered his way around the Boston’s and managed not to make much noise. He looked back at his mentor.

Wolfsong nodded slowly "Great, that's perfect!" he purred "It's almost like someone's telling you what to do" he joked. "Okay now, try to see if you can catch the scent of any prey and when you do try catching it, and go for the neck when you're gonna kill it. If you want to I could show you how to fish too, even if you won't have to much use of it during leaf-bare it's good to know and you are a Riverclanner now arn't you?" he meowed and looked at Sootpaw.

Sootpaw purred. He opened his mouth and let the scents flow in. Mouse! He crawled for a bit then got his legs ready. He moved into a downwind position and leapt. He flew through the air. His muscles bulges with his graceful leap and he leaned with the mouse right between his paws. He snagged it with his teeth quickly on the neck. He twitches his ears proudly and brought his prey to his mentor. He looked in to direction of a bush. Nothing there. He herd a noise and looked up. Oh! Mouse brain it’s in the tree! He went into a hunting position and inched forward. This would be hard. He angled himself perfected. The truth looked up. Sootpaw held his breath. Now! ext thing you know Sootpaw was in the air. He grabbed the truth with his paws and almost overshot the jump. He brought down the bird and struggled to pin it for a moment before killing it. He swished his tail fondly. I did it!! He cried out to his mentor. He dashed over and dropped his trush.But he dashed back to the spot and collected the feathers scattered everywhere. The queens and elders will like this! he purred and ran his muzzle around his mentors back.

Wolfsong purred "You're gonna be a great warrior Sootpaw and thankfully you're good at hunting, then I can take you with me out on patrols insted of Coldgaze, don't tell her I said this but she's the worst at hunting" he grinned slightly. "You're right, the queens and elders will like that. Now, wanna do some quick fishing too or should we go back to camp?" he asked him and smiled a little at Sootpaw.

Fishing? Is there even any fish in the water? A icey cold wind blew through his fur. He laughed a little at the remark of Coldgaze. Can a cat become a warrior if they can’t fight or hunt that well? I mean, Coldgaze did but what if your bad at both?

"Yes, there are still some but it isn't long berfore there isn't and the river will be frozen" he answerd. He thought for a few moments about Sootpaws question "I'm not sure actually... From what I've heard Coldgaze have pretty good fighting skills but she sucks at hunting but if you're bad at both... I guess if there are no medicine cat apprentice but otherwise I don't know...".

Okay lets go then! Sootpaw wandered off in the completely wrong direction. An icy chill flew through the air. Good. GO in the wrong direction bird-brain. Oh mouse dung! Sootpaw turned around a dashed the other way.

Wolfsong looked at Sootpaw and started padding towards the river. When he got there he sat down on the riverbank "So you have to be patient, wait until the fish comes close and then swiftly scoop it up, it's pretty simple" he told him. He looked into the river and waited awhile, when a fish got close he scooped it up and killed it quickly. "Now you give it a try" he meowed.

ok. Sootpaw sat the at water edge. He stared into the deep water and a flash of movement caught his eye. A fish! He scooped it up with quick reflexes and threw it into land. He watched it. How do I kill it?! He didn’t want to get a mouthful of sharp scales.

"Just a quick and hard bite in the head should do the trick" he told him with a slight smile. "That was a good catch, you have talent Sootpaw" he purred. Even if there was something odd with Sootpaw, he liked him, he were a good kid and would become a great warrior.

Sootpaw leaned over and bit the fish hard, making a gagging sound as the fish moved a little in his mouth. Suddently it stopped moving. My first fish! He though.
