To the Rhythm of the Wild (CLOSED)

The pale she-cat only stared at the ground as she felt Hailsong's jaws loosen, letting her escape the strong warrior's grasp. Eaglepaw did not feel remorseful, no; she honestly didn't care about her failed attempt at a getaway. It was only her first try, and besides, why should she care about fighting anyway? It wasn't like she would have a real battle anytime soon, right? Her response to Hailsong's plans was only a simple nod, not exactly caring too much.

Watching Hailsong look up to the sky, Eaglepaw did too, and only then did she realize how long of a day it had been. The tabby apprentice was curious if this would be her routine every day, and if so, she wasn't exactly looking forward to it, in all honesty. Her curiosity increased when her mentor spoke about the last place they would venture to, but the only thing she was looking forward to at the moment was going back to camp and getting rest. Again, her response was only a nod, waiting for Hailsong to start moving again.

Sunset was slowly approaching but they finally arrived. The sound of the water falling was a little overwhelming to someone who wasn't used to it. The dilute calico took a quick glance to the top of The Gorge, checking there were no Windclan patrols over there. After all, they had a tendency to be pretty aggressive toward Riverclan, even in their own territory! She looked back to Eaglepaw, making her stop with a movement of her tail. "This waterfall is called the Gorge. After the great war against Windclan, Ivystar reclaimed this land of no one as Riverclan's but Windclan seems to forget that and keep going in, breaking what the Code demands: not hunt in other clan's land. But it's not a dangerous place only for the patrol... but because of the fall. If you fall from up there, is not very likely you will survive because there are rocks at the bottom. On the other... Riverclan knows a secret passage that leads to a secret cavern that's behind the wall of water. Once you get stronger with your swimming, I'll show it to you, Eaglepaw, if you wish."

The falling of the sun and the sound of the rushing water seemed to be in rhythm as the sun started to set more and more, and the noise growing louder and louder. Eaglepaw was starting to grow anxious with how close they were getting and was thankful that Hailsong stopped her and they did not go to the peak. The small tabby looked at her mentor as she spoke about the Gorge, and started to get lost in thought with her own opinions about the deep cleft.


"Thank you for the offer... I accept. I'm sure the cavern you speak of is a nice place." The pale she-cat smiled, though inside she wasn't so sure about going anywhere remotely near the edge of the cliff. Still, she did truly imagine the cavern would be a nice place to get away to anytime she just needed to escape reality. "I look forward to the time we do."

The she-cat just smiled gently at her apprentice and nodded. "I'm glad to hear that. You have got a lot to learn but you have talent, Eaglepaw. I'm sure you will be a warrior soon if you keep working for it. However, for now, we must return. We will continue training tomorrow in your fighting technique but today you've earned a good rest after being such an obedient apprentice. Let's go home." The she-cat purred before turning her body back in the direction to the camp. The loud water soon started to be heard less and less powerful as they walked far away from it, entering one more time into the depths of Riverclan's territory. The first training was over and a lot were to come. Hailsong had to admit... that she had high hopes for her and hopefully, she would make it to warriorhood.
