Sunkit and Sootkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Willow Branch for a clan meeting!"

Scorchclaw flicked his feathery tail, watching as his clanmates steadily gathered beneath the willow tree. This was the day a pair of littermates would be leaving the nursery. Sunkit and Sootkit--Aspenstrike's kits. Truth be told, they had reached the age of six moons a short while ago. With all the commotion that Lichenmask had caused, their ceremony had been swept under the moss. Now that the war was over, it ought not to be delayed any longer.

RiverClan was ready to welcome two promising new apprentices.

Sunkit dropped her moss ball and stopped bickering with Mottledpaw and Sootkit, all of her attention was drawn towards the Willow Tree as she raced over to it.Bits of moss still lingered all over her pelt, her fluffy fur stood up everywhere from excitement. Her heart raced. Today is the day!!

Sootkit smiled at Mottledpaw and raced after Sunkit, he shook the dust out of his dark grey fur and lapped rapidly at his white chest fur, trying to get all of the dust out. He had done a pretty good job so far. His tail flicked quickly and quietly as he tapped his paws impatiently.

Mottledpaw, who had been exasperated with Sunkit only moments before, looked up to the willow branch at the sound of Scorchclaw's call. Realization flashed in his mind: Sunkit and Sootkit were getting their apprentice names! The frustration Mottledpaw had felt at Sunkit melted away, replaced with pride and excitement as he watched her sprint towards the deputy. Mottledpaw had a moment to give Sootkit a lick on the head, and he murmured, "Your mentor is going to be lucky to have you." Then Sootkit ran off to join his sister, and Mottledpaw joined with the rest of the Clan around them to watch the ceremony proudly.

Sunkit and Sootkit were among the first of the RiverClan cats to reach the willow tree. Upon catching sight of the moss scraps in Sunkit's fur, Scorchclaw had to hold back the frown that threatened to appear on his maw. In comparison to his sister, Sootkit was giving his pelt a hasty makeover. He, at least, looked presentable. Well, the brown tabby supposed that what they looked like at their ceremony had nothing to do with him. For this once in a lifetime event, however, he would have thought that Sunkit would put more effort into her appearance. Most of his clanmates had arrived, and it was time to start the ceremony. Drawing a deep breath, he stood tall. "Sunkit, Sootkit, step forward." From among the willow's branches, his green eyes glimmered.

"You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Sunkit, from this day onward until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Sunpaw, and your mentor will be Snowblossom. Sootkit, from this day onward until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Sootpaw, and your mentor will be Wolfsong."

Wolfsong took a few steps forward and looked at Sootpaw, soo he were a mentor now, he smiled slightly at the young cat. He hadn't mentored many cat's before, just one. He hoped that Sootpaw wern't one of those cats who spoke none stop since Wolfsong himself wern't much of a talker and enjoyed the silence.

Sootpaw smiled and licked Scorchclaw’s shoulder politely. He turned around and pranced towards his new mentor. He shook his fur. He was a new cat now. On the road to serving his clan well. He purred and rubbed his back under Mottledpaws chin before advancing twoards his mentor. As the young Tom walked he showed promising signs. His muscles rippled as he strutted past his clan mates and his Fur was slick and though. He bent and touched his nose with his new mentor.

Sunpaw quickly glanced around the gathering cats and started to smile- but her smile was cut short. Where is Aspenstrike and Flurryshine, her parents? Her eyes glazed with sadness for a moment before she blinked it away. She licked Scorchclaw’s shoulder and dashed towards her mentor. “We’re apprentices Sootpaw!” She cheered excitedly as she peace’s about, she glanced at her mentor and walked the rest of the small distance towards her mentor. She did not have any swagger in her walk like Sootpaw but, to the on lookers she just looked like a rolling ball of fuzz!
