Sparrowkit is just too nervous... (closed for Elmpaw)

The small calico kit peaked her head out from the nursery, staring out at the open camp. Her eyes lit up with childish wonder, but just as she was about to take her first awkward step outside someone walked past. She let out a small squeak, and ducked back under the gorse to watch them go. Any other kit would have the warm encouragement of a mother to lead her out of the nursery into the camp, but Sparrowkit was alone. Perhaps the camp was just too big of an adventure...

Elmpaw's ears flicked as he limped past the nursery, not noticing the tiny kit inside at first. The squeak caught his attention and he stopped, turning to stare at her. For some reason he wasn't expecting a kit to be there at all. The lanky tom blinked in surprise, then moved back to get a better look at her. Was she scared of him? "Uh, hey," he mewed, not particularly great with kids. "You can come out if you want. I don't bite." The apprentice was tense, waiting for her to bring up his missing leg. Everyone seemed to sooner or later.

"O-oh sorry." Sparrowkit stuttered. She hadn't expected him to hear her! She nervously padded out of the nursery gorse, blinking with wide eyes.

If she noticed his leg, she didn't react. Despite the fear that had surged through her when he'd spoke it had been relieving to be addressed with some warmth. Since her mothers death she hadn't felt much warmth, she was old enough to eat fresh-kill so she didn't need a queen to care for her.

"I'm Sparrowkit" she mumbled, looking up at him with wide round eyes. "Are you a warrior?" she asked quickly, curiosity eating at her
