Sparkkit's Apprentice Ceremony

That morning, the fluffy brown form of Scorchclaw could be seen once again perched upon the Great Rock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" Following his brother Berrypaw, Sparkkit was to become an apprentice today.

The sky was still dark, with a mild light radiating from the displaced rays of the sun. After his talk with Jaystar, the kit felt more at ease than before. So, when Scorchclaw called a clan meeting, presumably one for a ceremony, he was more confident in stepping out of the nursery. The paler parts of his dilute calico pelt seemed to become a light brown where there was usually cream blue and white. Sparkkit padded over to the center and sat back on his haunches. He was certain this would be his time.

Sparkkit was well aware of the reason for the clan meeting. Scorchclaw had made sure that he was, having notified him the day before. Now, the fluffy deputy's gaze fell upon the little tom seated among the gathered cats. When the crowd fell silent, dozens of pairs of eyes looking towards him, he knew that it was time to begin. Inhaling, he commenced the ceremony. "Sparkkit, step forward." As usual, a serious expression reigned over his features. The tip of his tail flicked once, lightly. "Sparkkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day onward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sparkpaw. Your mentor will be Viperstorm. A fierce, experienced warrior, she will train you well." He was aware that the named warrior was also in charge of training Gingerstripe at the moment. However, he didn't doubt that she could handle another apprentice.
