The Observer (Open)

Spiritkit, probably among the quietest kits in the clan, was sitting just outside the nursery with his little paws tucked under him. The cream-colored tom didn't need to play with the others, he was usually happy to just watch. And so watch he did, his blue eyes wide as he took in the other kits playing, apprentices running errands, warriors sharing tongues or returning from a patrol, the elders sunning themselves. Despite his small size, he had always been quieter and more likely to watch than play. Not because he couldn't, but because he didn't want to.

A smear of pale silver fur flashed as tiny Aspenkit darted into the nursery shadows, obviously keen to escape the flurry of cats in the clearing of camp. She'd rather be secluded from all this nonsense play the kits usually played, and they could never force her to join in. How dare they boss me around? I'll decide whether I want to play or not, and it's not their decision! Huffing, she whirled and almost yelped when she noticed the other kit, just calmly sitting by the entrance, apparently simply observing. Finally, a silent kitten who she could relate to! Her lime eyes glinting with relief, she plopped down just behind Spiritkit, following his eyes. She quite enjoyed doing this, just watching the others, and not engaging.

She loved silence.

Quail kit padded out of the nursery, grumbling. Blinking as the sun hit him. Laying down beside his den mates he mewed ``They're so noisy!`` he growled, Licking his long fur he turned to the other kits ``Whats so amusing about attacking each other, i don't get how that's fun!`` he spat, he stood up and declared ``When im a medicine cat, I wont heal them because its there fault for fighting eachother!``.

Spiritkit's eyes widened at not one but two kits approaching, and he squeaked as he noticed the second kit's anger. The tom shifted nervously, his fur fluffing a bit. He wasn't used to being approached by anybody else, and it was pretty obvious from the way he acted. "You're being just as noisy..." He said in a timid voice, looking at the angry kit in front of him. And what did he mean, when he became a medicine cat? Didn't the clan already have one?

Whipping her head around, irritated at the sudden disturbance of the silence, Aspenkit glared at the newcomer, Quailkit. The tiny she-kit impatiently lashed her tail when he began to speak, expecting another useless invitation to a game, but froze when he began to snarl a complain about the others' noise levels. Could it be? Another kit that actually has sense? Aspenkit was beginning to get excited. Perhaps not all kits where stupid.
Her sharp eyes widening with instant agreement, Aspenkit opened her maw to respond to his comments about all that nonsense play-fighting, when Quailkit mentioned something about becoming a medicine cat. The tabby's mouth immediately shifted into a frown. He wanted to be a healer? That would be boring!
When Spiritkit timidly answered him, Aspenkit was stuck over deciding whether to scoff at his bashfulness or eagerly agreeing that he was correct. It was true that ThunderClan already had a medicine cat. What did Quailkit mean, he was going to be one?
"You want to be a medicine cat? But we already have one!" she barked matter-of-factly, she tone tinged with the slightest coldness, "But you were right about the attacking before. At least, only when they're fighting in a game. Attacking and defending for real sounds fun."
