The Owl And The Hawk: When The Owl Awakens [Hawkstrike’s Plot, Pt.1]

The reason why I’m breaking down this plot into parts instead of making just one plot thread with some more stages is because with the mix of MC revelations, the site-wide plot as well as some other variables I can’t take for granted without putting at risk the integrity of the plot, I feel it’s safer for me to go this way. I shall post part 2 once this one is over.

Also this won’t be a “First Come, First Serve” kind of plot, I will pick the cats I want in each eligible role based on how well I feel they may fit the role as well as interactions with Hawk in the past that could either hinder or help the plot’s progress. I apologize in advance if I don’t pick your cat, and ask you to be patient. In the following parts of the plot your cat may get another chance!




Stage 1: Truth Unburied

Hawkstrike’s past is widely unknown for the clan, from his origins to his loyalties. For most, he’s just an old SkyClan warrior, but that’s just a lie told by Crowstar to get him accepted and an act he has gotten used to perform to the point of perfection. While it may be near to impossible for anyone to get to know his origins as Owlstrike from ShadowClan, his loyalties are a completely different story as his personality is heavily influenced by them and since Crowstar died, the leash that kept him in hold snapped.

I need one cat that starts picking up the clues and asks around until they piece together that Hawkstrike is not the honorable warrior he claims to be through some threads, and that behind the good guy mask he wears, a darker self hides. Whether they manage to figure out or not that he is a Dark Forest loyalist, that’s up to the rper. They won’t share this knowledge right away, knowing they have no real evidence of this, but this will cause them to start to constantly follow them around to get it.

If the cat chosen for this stage has previous interactions with Hawkstrike that cover up some of the threads’ hints, those will be auto-filled so we can jump to the next thread.


Stage 2: Not Your Everyday Heartless Villain

Hawkstrike will be hunting on his own close to the river like he uses to do, knowing his hunting skills are not as good as the rest of the clan and ashamed to let his clanmates to see him failing, the cat that knows about his true dark self following him around as always. The day prior there was a storm and because of this the river is more dangerous than the usual, which is made clear by the roar of the water.

Not far from there, a group of kits Hawkstrike nor his stalker know about is playing to be warriors after escaping from camp. One of the kits jumps into one of the rocks of the river, oblivious to the danger, but before their friends can follow them the queens arrive, and scold the kits for running away. Startled by their mother’s presence, the kit slips from the rock and falls to the roaring waters.

Alerted by the noise, Hawkstrike now finally realizes what is going on and his eyes get locked on the kit as soon as it slips off the rock. Knowing how cruel he could be the stalker cat assumes he will do nothing to save the kit, giving them the proof they need to accuse them…but instead of following such expectations Hawkstrike jumps into the river without a second thought.

After grabbing the kit from the scruff he manages to get a hold of one of the rocks of the river and struggles to stay above water level. The mother of the kit rushes towards them, reaching the rock Hawkstrike is holding to, he immediately demands the queen to grab the kit as he struggles to reach her, not able to get closer through flexing his arms as the strength of the current doesn’t allows him to. The queen can decide to try and reach for him to save them both, but with the strength of the current it will be impossible, and the sound of his claws scratching against the rock will make clear time is running out.

Just as the queen grabs her kit and saves them, a strong wave will force Hawkstrike’s claws to finally slip off the rock and he shall be engulfed by the river. Not knowing how to swim he’ll be dragged the depths of the river, where he shall lose consciousness after hitting his head against the rocks at the bottom.

How witnessing this affects the stalker cat, is completely up to the rper.


Stage 3: Saved By Thunder / A Promise Of Old

Hawkstrike will wash up on the shore of the river that belongs to ThunderClan. Mapleleaf and/or Rainypaw will be around at the time and will spot him. Because of their oath and through their knowledge as medicine cats they will come to the conclusion that even if he’s not breathing there is a small chance they are not too late and will immediately get to work to make him expel the water from his lungs. After some time they will come out successful, causing him to cough up the water. He will open his eyes for half a second before drifting to unconsciousness once more. Knowing he’s unable to fend for himself at the time, they shall take him to TC’s camp to let him recover.

At the same time this happens, there will be a thread made at the Dark Forest for him. Because of his old loyalties and the fact he’s in that strange place between alive and dead he shall be sent there for a very short period of time. He will cross paths with 1-3 Dark Forest cats, which shall remind him of the promise of old he once made to them and has slowly started to be forgotten by the brown tom, of doing anything on his paws to help them back to power. They will also give him a hint that Morningstar, the decoy leader of the Dark Forest plot, has been reborn and is in TC.

Be aware that those that talk to him are very-well aware that this interaction with a “living” cat is unique given the circumstances that had to happen for them to be able to, and that given their lack of power they know this will be the only chance they may have to do so again for a long time, as it is unknown when they will have the power to communicate with them again through any other means…if they ever get the ability back, that is, and their interaction will be quite short. This means they won’t be willing to waste any time with useless chit chat, as otherwise they’re most likely to miss it forever. As soon as this interaction is over he shall spit the water out and vanish, back to the world of the living.


Stage 4: Old Ally, New Pelt

Hawkstrike will wake up in ThunderClan, where he will be helped to recover so he can return to SkyClan. During his time here, following the hints left behind by the Dark Forest cats to meet with Morningstar’s reincarnation, Morningpaw.

While he will be rather hostile and distrustful to the rest of the clan thanks to his “If you are not from my clan, you are my enemy” mentality, he will act quite differently towards Morningpaw, trying to stablish some kind of friendly relationship with him. He will also try to figure out if the apprentice has any memory of his past as Morningstar (Whether he does or not is completely up to Icee), if he does he will secretly swear loyalty to him, otherwise he will allow him to figure it out by himself to avoid pressuring and distracting him from the path he feels he’s destined for, but will let him know he has an ally in skyClan that will always be there to help no matter what.


Stage 5: Flying Back Home

Once recovered, Hawkstrike will be taken back to SkyClan, escorted by a couple TC cats. How he is received after what most cats probably thought was a sacrifice for a kit, something he would never be able to come back from, and how they react to the news that TC were the ones responsible for saving his life is up to the rpers that join the thread.

Near the thread end, the stalker cat shall approach Hawkstrike to welcome him back to the clan, but as the brown tom thanks them for it they shall see in his eyes a glimpse of a new, more menacing darkness than that he already had. He only hint that the bond he had towards the dark Forest got reinforced and he walks the dark path he had started to walk away from during the past couple moons with the intention to comply with a promise that time had almost been successful on erasing.
