Foxkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!" Scorchfang called from atop the ceremonial rock.

With a skip in her step, the bengal made her way up to the large stone, a smile on her face and her throat rumbling with a sweet tune. Her belly was full of lizard, her mother had rigorously cleaned her pelt, and she couldn't have felt more loved. She felt as if there was more attention being put on her than usual, but Foxkit was clueless as to why.

The growing she-cat took a seat close to the front of the crowd, blissful eyes staring at the deputy. Scorchfang was a powerful tom. A cat she aspired to be like. Perhaps she could be deputy one day. But first, she had to become an apprentice.

Maybe that's why she was receiving such special attention on this night. No, of course not. She wasn't six moon-- Oh StarClan she was. She was six moons old. In an instant her rosette pelt became hot and a lump formed in her throat. Her mind screamed as she sat awkwardly, hoping she hadn't been so mouse-brained to forget about her own ceremony. Please, let it be tomorrow. Don't let it be today...

"Foxkit, step forward," Scorchfang meowed to the she-kit, waiting for her to do so before continuing. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Foxkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Foxpaw. Littlestar will be your mentor. I know she will be able to pass down what she has learned to you."
