Blood of a Feather

Shade was bored. He had already visited ShadowClan territory once, and he was nearly beaten by his own half-brother Liontail. He wasn't in the mood to pay ThunderClan, WindClan, or SkyClan a visit with the risk of actually getting beaten by another warrior, so instead he decided to return to his former Clan, RiverClan. He knew that Jaystar had demanded each cat travel in pairs outside of camp from now on, but some apprentices liked to bend the rules from time to time and hunt with each other without a warrior to protect them from his wrath. Surely, he'd be able to find an apprentice to really sink his claws into.

He heard voices a few tail-lengths away, and he silently slipped into the river and spied through the tall cattails to see who was there. It was a RiverClan apprentice by the name of Featherpaw, but her Clanmate seemed to be out of sight. It seemed the two were on a small hunting patrol and had gone their separate ways. Perfect.

With an evil grin, Shade slipped out of the water and through the cattails, narrowing his eyes as he closed in on his prey from behind. "Hello there, little Featherpaw," he cooed in a low growl. "Did you miss me?"

Featherpaw had been soundlessly crouching by a small stream, the thin reeds brushing against her soft, silvery fur. She was waiting patiently for her clanmate to return after chasing a musky, plump vole. During her training sessions, she had already proved to not be very skillful in catching forest prey. Instead, she had directed her focus on learning how to hunt fish, although she still hadn't been instructed on the proper techniques yet.
Blinking drowsily, her green gaze sweeping contently and blissfully around the area, the young apprentice let out a soft sigh. It wasn't until she heard a growl from behind that her senses were fully alert. Her then-relaxed eyes widened in shocked alarm and she whipped around, bristling fearfully.

The tabby let out a petrified yelp when she caught sight of the rogue. Her ears flattened defensively, and slowly cowered away, trembling. A huge pool of panic began to form. She hadn't trained much in battle - how could she protect herself?
Featherpaw suddenly remembered Jaystar's order for the apprentices to immediately flee and warn him of Shade instead of fighting, and she cautiously backed away, too afraid to make large movements.
She was frozen in place!

”Aww, what’s wrong, little one? Are you scared of me?” Shade chuckled, his grin growing wider. ”Well, that’s good. You should be.” He suddenly leaped over Featherpaw to get behind her, gripped hard on her tail, and yanked so hard on it that the bone at the base popped, dislocating her entire tail.

Shade used Tail Yank on Featherpaw, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Featherpaw is Stunned for one turn.

Featherpaw tensed and whisked her head around, just in time to see Shade lunging his teeth towards her tail. She started to sharply draw her tail away, but the movement wasn't quick enough to escape the piercing pain that had formed at its base. She let out a hoarse, weak gasp as she stumbled blindly sideways in agony.
Come on, Featherpaw! her mind shouted in desperatation, you have to be prepared!


Featherpaw is no longer stunned.

With a growl of triumph, Shade took the opportunity to pin Featherpaw down on her back.Then, with his sharp hind claws, he began raking them into her soft underbelly.

Shade used Belly Rake on Featherpaw, dealing 12 damage and costing 10 stamina.

A wailing cry escaped the apprentice's mouth as Shade's claws raked mercilessly in her belly, creating deep wounds. The deep and unbearable pain from her now-dislocated tail now had the extra wound added to it. Her mind was a whirling blur, and she shaked her head in an unsuccessful attempt to remove the daze.
Thinking quickly, she lifted up her free hind legs, although the movement made her wince since it caused her tail to move slightly. Unsheathing her claws, she scratched at the rogue's belly, just like he had done to her.
An idea suddenly formed in her head. "H-help!" she called, hoping [NPC] could hear her urgent shriek.

”This isn’t a tickle fight, little one,” Shade taunted, wincing slightly, but otherwise having no trouble taking the attack. He knew Featherpaw’s patrol partner would return at any moment, however, which meant he wouldn’t have enough time to finish her off. So, he climbed off and slashed his claws across her face.

When he was certain the apprentice would be too weak to attack back, he lowered his head to her ear and growled, ”Watch your back, little Featherpaw. Because if I catch you alone again, I will kill you.” With that, he turned back to the river, swiftly swam across to douse his scent so no patrol could track him, and raced off.

Featherpaw's terror was clearly shown in her expression. Her attack barely did anything! Nothing she did would matter, it was all useless! She was shivering uncontrollably because of her fear, and even though she tried to wiggle out of Shade's grasp, it didn't work. Plus, she was aching and exhausted all over, the attack had weakened her greatly.

She almost gasped when the rogue had climbed off, but the sudden slash on her face stopped her. The long rake caused her face to sting. With a jolt, she realized if she hadn't retracted her head slightly and had kept her eyes open, Shade's claws could have blinded her.

The threat that he had murmured lowly into her ear had made her paralysed with fear. Did he mean it?
The apprentice watched Shade in hopeless defeat as he darted away. His threatening words hung in her head, causing a shudder to pass through her body. She was completely worn out, and she was hurting all over. Camp was tree-lengths away, so there was no possible way she could limp all the way there without collapsing.

I have to try, she thought, Where was my hunting partner when I need her?
With that, she turned and lifted herself up, panting faintly and hissing from the pain from her tail, belly and face. Drips of bright scarlet fell to the ground, and a large crimson stain was on the ground were the battle happened. Featherpaw took one slow, small, steady step forwards, her legs trembling from the strength she was lacking. As soon as her paw landed, her legs collapsed, and she landed back on the ground with a heavy thud. She gasped in agony when her tail moved.

Then it all went black.

Tawnyfang knew something was wrong the moment blood and rogue had drifted to her nose.

She had taken two apprentices out of camp for a quick patrol, one of them being her own sister. Though she never really had a close bond with any of her adopted family, there was something about Featherpaw that drew her closer. She frlt as if she her own blood, oddly. The experience was terrifying for her; she had never felt so..so connected to a cat before, but she adjusted just fine. Tawnyfang took it upon herself to take care of Featherpaw as a mentor, to be as encouraging as possible, She would never forgive herself if something were to go wrong.

That something decided to bother them today.

The brown and white warrior recalled Featherpaw going off on her own to hunt. Dread filled her stomach as she shot up, beckoning the other apprentice to come as she followed the coppery scent. Her blue eyes clouded with fear at the thought of potentially bad outcomes. "Please be okay, please.." She begged silently, hastening her pace. What was she going to tell Jaystar, or Scorchfang? They'd never trust her again if something terrible had happened. Starclan, if she was in their paws, she'd never trust herself either. As she approached, the scent was easily recognized; Shadefang was behind this. If she got her paws on him, he'd never set foot in Riverclan territory again. She made a mental note to inform someone about this.

Tawnyfang gasped at the sight of a mangled Featherpaw, resting in a pool of her own blood. She was stuck, frozen in place as she gazed upon the fallen apprentice. A soft cry of dismay left her maw as she forced herself closer, collapsing next to her form. She nudged her gently, her heart shattering as her head limply lolled to the side. Still, she could see the faint rising of the she-cat's chest. Hope surged into the hole in her heart as she slid under the apprentice and carried her on her back.

"Hang on a bit longer, Featherpaw. You'll be home soon."

Streampaw had been hunting together with  NPC, he liked the fact that there was a warrior nearby to watch his back, you never knew what kind of dangers lurk around the territory. He was about to catch the thickest vole of his life when suddenly the smell of blood came in his nose, the vole must have smelled it to because the animal was long gone when he looked back at it. He focused himself on the smell of blood. It did not smell like any prey's blood, could it be? Could that be cat blood?! he decided to ran towards the cent witch grew stronger and stronger and a a bit of rouge blood came along with it.
He ran almost as fast as a Windclan cat for his feeling when he finally found the source of the blood smell,

It was Featherpaw
and she was not looking good.

Streampaw sprinted towards Tawnyfang who was carrying her.
" wha-wha- WHAT HAPPEND?" his word came out louder than he had expected them to be, and he found himself stil running to Featherpaw to see if the she cat was still alive.
" we got to get Goldeneye as fast as we can!" he turned at Tawnyfang and looked at her with concerned eyes " she is going to make it right? Right?".
He did not want to know the answer, al he could think about right now was how they could get Featherpaw back to the camp as quickly as possible.
She had to survive.
She just had to.

Featherpaw's breathing was raspy and shallow, and the only noticeable indication that she was still alive was the small, indistinct heaving of her chest. Otherwise, the apprentice was completely motionless and still. As her mentor slipped beneath her, she let out a soft moan. Featherpaw hung limply on Tawnyfang's back, unaware of the voices talking. Her long tail, now dislocated, dangled and barely brushed against the ground. Her usually sleek and soft fur was now prickly and matted with her blood.

OOC: This was all I could think of, sorry ^^'.
