Foxpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Sprawled atop the Tallrock, Brindlestar's hip rested heavily upon the smooth surface of the stone. Briskly grooming away the remaining traces of her previously consumed meal, the scarred she-cat's features were pinched with a thoughtful expression. Although her body was slowed with drowsiness after consuming such a large meal, her mind was still alert- there was one more matter she had to attend to before retiring for the evening. After a lengthy discussion with Quailfeather over the matter of Foxpaw's training, both she-cats had managed to come to an agreement concerning the next step.

Nosing the final stubborn tufts of fur back into their proper place, the Leader's limbs stretched out hurriedly in an ungraceful, sweeping stretch. Flexing until her muscles ached with a delicious strain, Brindlestar let out a little sigh before finally rising up to her paws. Giving herself a brisk shake to clear away the troublesome tendrils of drowsiness that had arisen from her meal, she swallowed down a yawn before finally yowling out the familiar summons.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Tallrock!"

Foxpaw looked around, hardly containing her excitement. She was going to be a warrior! She padded up to the Tallrock. Gazing up at Brindlestar, she eagerly awaited her new name.

"We gather here today to make one of our apprentices a Warrior." Brindlestar began once more, only pausing for the briefest inhale. Blinking down at the familiar features of her Clanmates, her gaze blatantly sought out the ruddy colored apprentice by the name of Foxpaw. Evenly holding the young she-cat's green gaze, she only acknowledged the younger cat's obvious excitement with the faintest of nods. Even though her own Warrior Ceremony had been quite some time ago, nearly seasons now, she could still easily recall the overwhelming sense of excitement and apprehension. "She has proven herself worthy to climb the ranks of WindClan and receive her Warrior name."

"Foxpaw, please step forwards."

Foxpaw padded up to the base of the Tallrock. She looked over her shoulder, looking at the group of cats that had gathered. Then she looked back at Brindlestar with her bright green eyes. She was ready.

Tail sweeping out behind her a leisurely arc, Brindlestar's steely gaze remained trained upon Foxpaw. Even though the expression worn by the young she-cat was more than viable proof, she still needed to be certain that the apprentice was capable of handling the strains of Warriorhood. Sharp gaze picking apart the ginger she-cat's manner, the Leader remained silent for another beat before speaking once more. "I, Brindlestar, Leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in return." Gaze lifting to the sky as she summoned the presence of her ancestors, the brindled she-cat's face only turned away from the rapidly cooling sky to question Foxpaw.

"Foxpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"Yes!" Foxpaw was bursting with adrenalin, hardly able to stand still.

Watching as Foxpaw struggled to stand still in wake of such a heart-pounding, adrenaline riling moment, Brindlestar decided not to linger any longer. Whatever weakness she had been searching for out of the jaded darkness of her heart seemed to lack existence, and delaying the gratifying moment for longer than necessary would be cruel. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I shall grant you your Warrior name. Foxpaw, from this moment you will be known as Foxspirit. StarClan honors your fiery confidence and tactful cleverness, and we welcome you as a full Warrior of WindClan." Leaping down from the heated stone of the Tallrock in a fluid motion, Brindlestar quickly strode to greet the newly-named Warrior with a brief nuzzle.
