You Again

The water raged through the gorge, crashing against the rocks that jutted out. Oakpaw, who was accompanied by Poppycloud, padded along the gorge's edge. Rocks tumbled down into the foaming water beneath and the she-cat couldn't help but shiver when they splashed. Her maw was open as she scented for prey, and her ears swivelled listening for any side of potential food. The day was rather windy and it made picking up scents and sounds rather difficult. It'd be a difficult hunt, but the clan needed to be fed.

Poppycloud led Oakpaw carefully along the edge of the gorge, watching and listening carefully for any sign of prey. Before long, she caught the scent of a rabbit, so she veered lightly away from the gorge, to find a small rabbit facing the other direction, only a few fox-lengths away. She dashed off, in hot pursuit of her quarry. She returned a few moments later with the rabbit dangling from her jaws. She left it, sheltered by a rock, to pick up later.

'Hunting Dice' : 3

Although Oakpaw had been an apprentice for awhile, she had never done real hunting. Sure, she'd practiced plenty with her mentor, but she'd never tried to catch anything. The tabby cat was a little anxious about it, she didn't want to make a fool of herself. Oakpaw's eyes gazed over the thick grass, in search of prey. A flash of brown caught her eye and on instinct, she dropped into a hunting crouch and darted towards the creature. The creature, which Oakpaw had identified as a hare, was only a few mouse-lengths away. The apprentice tensed her legs and focused the entirety of her gaze upon the rodent.

Oakpaw leaped forward with a cry, but the hare was snatched up by an eagle. Terrified, she scampered towards Poppycloud, her fur on end and her claws unsheathed. "I'm so sorry Poppycloud, I should of seen the eagle!" she meowed desperately eye wide. The eagle dropped the hare and fixed its gaze on the two she cats, letting out a hateful screech. Oakpaw let out a wail of despair. Why was she so pathetic?

OOC: The RiverClan cats can post now, but maybe because of the eagle they could help WndClan.

Heronflight was on a border patrol with Hillpaw when he saw an eagle feather.  Of course, eagles are always around me, Heronflight thought.  This was no exception, except that the eagle was on WindClan territory.  Ignoring all logical reasoning, the gray tabby saw the eagle try to swoop to get the tabby apprentice, so Heronflight pounced and grabbed the eagle on its neck and shook it with all his might.

Heronflight used Scruff Shake on Eagle, dealing 5 damage and costing 25 stamina.  Eagle is stunned for 2 turns.

Heronflight:

OOC: Remember, we only need to get the eagle down to less than 30 HP to chase it off. I'm assuming we don't want to use any more time than needed, because it only counts as a skirmish if cats fight.

"Stupid WindClanners can't even notice huge eagles! How has their clan survived this long? We should have wiped them out when we had the chance," Hillpaw sneered, at first just watching from across the Gorge as the eagle swooped down near the WindClanners. He recognized the apprentice from the gathering, the stupid one who had no idea how to talk to her superiors. Nothing inside him told him to help them, at least not until Heronflight did. Well, he might as well prove that RiverClan was was stronger while they were there. Curling his upper lip in a snarl, he launched himself for the eagle, stretching his claws upward to attack its wing. Not jumping high enough, he only managed a few scratches down its stomach, but just pretended like that was his goal all along.

Hillpaw used Belly Rake on Eagle, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 stamina.

IC: Oakpaw glanced at Hillpaw, as he sprung into action. A pang of anger hit her when he spoke. The apprentice's green eyes narrowed, but she still sat there quivering. How pathetic. Oakpaw didn't know what to do, she'd had little practice at fighting. However, it would be better than sitting and cowering.

Shakily, she rose to her paws and joined Hillpaw in battle. Her eyes gazed at the eagle as it let out an agitated screech, still dazed from Heronflight's blow. With a hiss, she leapt forward and raked her claws along it is exposed belly, as the eagle flopped about attempting to get in the air.

The eagle let out another screech as it felt the apprentice's needle like claws rip into it is flesh. With a new surge of adrenaline, the raptor beat its wings and surged into the air. Its yellow eyes burned with hate and malice. It was going to make these stupid cats pay.

Poppycloud sprang into action, leaping towards the eagle. She slammed into it with her full weight, sending it sprawling through the air. It was quick to take flight again, so she danced out of reach to allow the RiverClanners to take a turn to attack.

Poppycloud used Run-and-Tackle on the eagle, using 10 SP and dealing 8+3 damage (+3 as the eagle was not focused on her)
