A Patrol of Frost {Open SkC}

Frostwing padded up to the entrance of camp and sat down, waiting for the rest of her patrol to join her.'

Firflower, upon noticing Frostwing in front of the camp's entrance, trotted towards the other she-cat. Hoping that this was what she thought it was - a patrol - she dipped her head slightly, silently asking if she could join her.

Clearpaw had some time to himself. No instructions of what to do. That was strange to him. For w bit he had considering visiting the medicine den, but decided that was too useless. Now that he was no longer a kit, he could do something useful to provide happiness and hope to the clan. Beauty could be seen in its most natural and pure state. Now he could leave camp. Hunt and explore. Of course, he still needed a warrior. So he had asked to be assigned a patrol. Frostwing would be leading it, he knew, so the moment he saw her waiting, he happily trotted in her direction. "Good day, Frostwing, Firflower. It is a treasure to be patrolling with you today."

Echopaw walked over. "Umm.. mind if I join?" she asked.

Frostwing purred delightedly as her clanmates quickly joined her. “Of course you guys can come! Let’s go!” She chirped before heading out into the territory. This was her first time leading a patrol and Frostwing was a bit nervous she’d mess something up. She knew it wasn’t probable, but the little spark of anxiety stayed loyally in the corner of her mind.

Soon they came upon a little clearing, and she came to a halt. “Alright, guys, let’s catch some prey!” She meowed, her soft, enthusiastic voice carrying to each of her clanmates. She soon found the scent of a bird and quickly ended its life.

Once they were out in the territory, Firflower scaled a young spruce tree and looked out over the nearby territory. She skillfully traversed through the crisscrosses of branches, keeping her eyes and mouth open for nearby prey. She stopped at the sight of a furry tail poking out of a tree hollow not too far away. 'A squirrel!' She crept along her branch, carefully avoiding the leaves and twigs as she kept her eyes fixed on the animal. With almost perfect form, she leaped towards it and with claws digging into the bark, she quickly pinned it to the tree and delivered a killing bite. 'I did it!'

Clearpaw nodded in greeting to Echopaw, then followed Frostwing out of camp, determined not to slow his patrol down by stopping to see every wonder that met his eye. While he did see a nest full of baby birds and a bush ripe with plump indigo berries, he managed to keep walking instead of stopping to inspect further. Once the patrol stopped and he was informed that they should start hunting, he quickly scented the air for prey. He had a naturally talented nose, and he had just recently learned how to use it to separate scents and detect prey. While he hadn't yet been educated on how to hunt in the trees yet, he could catch some creature's when they were on the ground. Detecting the scent of a bird, he tracked it, discovering a small warbler. A sense of relief filled him that it wasn't a robin, whose chicks he had just seen. While he knew that any creature could have family, he doubted he could have the conscience to kill a creature who he knew had a family he had just seen. Slipping into a hunting crouch, he tried his best to perfect ever detail before slowly stalking towards his target. Unfortunately, the bird seemed to notice him, spreading its wings and taking off. Though he was disappointed that he missed his catch, he was glad he had been able to see a warbler take flight. It was truly beautiful.

Echopaw nodded and walked with them. As the other members left, her instinct from being in the tribe made her wait instead of pursuing her prey. Leaving a few seeds on a small pile and waiting on a tree's roots. After a bit, a bird started pecking at the easy meal for it. She crouched down, extra tension on her hind legs. Then, she sprang, leaping into the air. The bird tried to fly away, but she overpowered it to the ground with her paws. With the heavy impact to it's back, the bird was dead. She muttered her thanks to StarClan before going to bury it. Satisfied with the way she was able to force all her weight onto her prey, she would normally do that with large birds, but the accuracy is what pleased her the most. She decided to see if she could hunt like her clanmates and went out to smell out prey.
