Flurrykit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" From his perch high up on the willow branch, Scorchclaw had a pretty good view of the RiverClan camp. His sharp green gaze searched the quickly gathering crowd of cats for a specific white pelt. Whether she knew or not, today was the day Flurrykit would be leaving the nursery.

She did know, and honestly she was not looking forward to it. Flurrykit made sure to groom her fur until her tongue hurt to make herself look beautiful, then padded out of the nursery and towards the gathering cats with her head held high.

It did not take long before the cat in question appeared. From the look of her sleek, shining pelt, Flurrykit had definitely been expecting her ceremony. Scorchclaw could remember the time in the distant past when it had been his own apprentice ceremony; he had had to groom himself as well, because his mother simply had not cared. That seemed so long ago now. Exhaling slightly, the tabby tom began. "Flurrykit, step forward."

There was slight pause as he waited for the white kit to come forward. "Flurrykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Flurrypaw and your mentor will be Dewshine." While he still had some reservations regarding the warrior due to the incident that had happened with Flamepaw, she had not yet done anything that would mark her as being unloyal. She was a little too kind, but Scorchclaw was not going to judge his clanmate so quickly.

Flurrypaw's tail shot up excitedly, and she began looking around in the crowd for her new mentor, eager to meet her.

Snowblossom purred as she watched another of her kits receive a mentor. Dewshine was a good cat; she would train her daughter well. After Flurrypaw touched noses with the silver she-cat, the fluffy white queen walked over to purr proudly over her kit, licking her face. "Good job, Flurrypaw," she encouraged her happily, glad that the young she-cat would finally be an apprentice.
