A Little Wind Never Hurt Nobody

The day was feeling too long. Jayflight was ready to get out of camp, stretch his legs and do something with himself. He moved towards the middle of camp and called out to the clan, "Anyone want to go on a hunt? Meet at the entrance!" The sleek grey tom lumbered towards the entrance of camp to see who would gather at his call.

Swiftstep looked over at the younger tom as he asked for company to go hunt. The tom smiled and approached the warrior. "Hello Jayflight. A mighty nice day to just sit around eh? I'll come with you. I do feel like hunting today." he purred with a playful twinkle in his amber eyes.

Lilypaw got up she was enjoying the sun when she heard Jayflight asking if somebody wanted to go on a hunt. Lilypaw figured she had nothing better to do and she also enjoys hunting more then the sun she decided to be of use for her clan an padded over to Jayflight " hi jayflight! I would like to join the hunt patrol!" and in al honesty if she would be stuck in the camp for even an other minute she might go crazy Lilypaw longed to run over the morse and use her legs like they are wings seeing over the grass fields. Butt she had to be patient and waited for more cats to join the patrol.

Glancing at the camp entrance as she heard a tom offer up a hunting patrol to the Clan, Acornpelt wasn't particularly interested at first. She knew Jayflight, but only his name and nothing more, and she wouldn't really care about going on a patrol with a cat she barely knew. The she-cat only bothered to get up when she saw Swiftstep walking over to join the patrol. Perfect! She could go hunting with Swiftstep again, just like the old days when she was still an apprentice! After all, ever since he became deputy, Acornpelt realized how little of a bond the two had, especially for a mentor-and-apprentice relationship. Padding up to the two toms, she nodded respectfully and spoke. "I wouldn't mind a little hunting myself. I'll join you two if ya'll don't mind."

Fernwing raced towards her Clanmates and father, wearing a wide, happy grin. She purred happily as she nuzzles up against Swiftstep.

"Great looks like we have a full patrol.  Is everyone ready?"  The thin grey cat moved out of camp and into the territory.  He stopped once they got to a certain place and looked at the rest of the cats, [color#f48c42]"This seems as good a place as any?  Let's get started."[/color]  Jayflight set off to find his first piece of prey.  He was silent on the moorland as he knew the wind carried sound, like the river carried a leaf.  Using his eyes he scanned the flat land and saw a twitch of an ear about a foxlength away.  The warrior moved with a purpose towards the rabbit and didn't waste a heartbeat before going in for the kill, and by the luck of StarClan he was successful in his catch.

The deputy nudged his daughter lovingly, bumped his shoulder to his former apprentice's as a friendly gesture then grinned and nodded at Jayflight before they left.

Swiftstep split up but stayed fairly close to the others just in case. Soon the brown tom found a distracted bird nearby. He wasted no time and swiftly pounced on the feathered creature. Swiftstep soon had the bird under his paws, quickly killing it with a strong bite. He grabbed the prey and began his search for more.

Padding lightly over to a familiar tall clump of grass and rocks, Acornpelt knew that this was a good hiding spot for prey. It was only luck that the patrol had wandered near this area- she could show all of them how good of a hunter she was! 

Crouching a distance away from the prey-rich area, Acornpelt sat and waited patiently. Nothing was visible, but she could hear small movements and a scent of.. squirrel? Not long after Acornpelt had smelled the critter, a brown, fluffy-tailed thing scurried out of a hole under a rock. The brown tabby couldn't help but smirk as she stalked toward it, almost forgetting to steady herself. As the rare creature sat up, sniffing out a predator, Acornpelt began her chase. Pouncing on the fat squirrel, the she-cat killed it quickly and cleanly.

Burying it beside a recognizable scrap of heather, Acornpelt set off from the area to grab more prey for WindClan.

Fernwing lowered her head to the ground as she sniffed around for any prey. Suddenly, as quickly as she picked up the scent of rodent, a brown mouse dashed out from a clump of grass. She gave chase immediately, and she was able to catch it before it could bury itself away. She bit the back of its neck sharply and, with a purr of satisfaction, swiftly buried it and continued her search for more prey.

Jayflight decided to try an attempt at one more piece of prey.  With the four cats they should be able to each carry two pieces each back to camp without any trouble.  The grey tom set off for another scent.  He moved with stealth across the moor and caught scent of a ground bird.  He crouched when he saw the bird hopping around on the ground. Jayflight stalked the small bird and then jumped towards it, but with no such luck. The bird flew away before the tom even landed on the ground. "Dang it" He spit the piece of heather he had caught out and went on his way.
