Poppypaw's Warrior Ceremony

Ashstar leapt onto the Tallrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Poppypaw padded softly out of her den, stretching leisurely. She casually groomed her fur as she settled among her Clanmates and turning her attention to Ashstar. Her warrior ceremony was long overdue, so she made sure she was near the front, ready to step forward if she needed to.

Ashstar looked down at the apprentice, smiling in pride. Another good, loyal apprentice had earned her warrior name, and would fight honorably for WindClan. "We gather here today to make one of our apprentices a warrior. She has proven herself worthy to climb the ranks of WindClan and receive her warrior name. Poppypaw, please step forwards." Once the she-cat did, she continued with the ceremony. "I, Ashstar, leader of WindClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Poppypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Poppypaw stood, motionless, as Ashstar performed the ceremony. It seemed like the leader talked forever before the white-and-ginger apprentice was called upon to speak. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life? She nodded slowly and deliberately. "I promise." She had said the words - now only moments until she would finally have her warrior name.

Ashstar nodded in satisfaction. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Poppypaw, from this moment you will be known as Poppycloud. StarClan honors your intelligence and skill, and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." The leader leapt down and rested her muzzle on top of the new warrior's head with a smile, finishing the ceremony.

Swiftstep jumped up, pride radiating off of him. His eyes lighting up at the site of his eldest daughter recieving her warrior name. "Poppycloud! Poppycloud!!" he chanted the loudest. He nuzzled her gently. "I'm proud of you darling. My poppy~" he told her softly.
