Softkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The tall warrior stepped over the branch pining his claws on the wood to climb up. Once he was up there, he took a deep breath. Riverclan was slowly flourishing with young blood ready to become part of his clan. He was glad. If Riverclan grew in size, warriors and apprentices, everything would be fine. They would have prey enough to feed the young ones and secure the borders. That was why he was happy for doing this kind of ceremonies. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" He called, waiting specifically for the white-furred she-cat who was Lilytail's daughter and his former apprentice's kit.

Softkit padded out of the nursery. Her puffy pelt was nice and groomed. Her mother had told her it was a special day. She sat down and looked up at Jaystream with big, curious blue eyes.

Lilytail walked out of the nursery with a proud gaze. She purred gently as she sat near her daughter, ready to see her join the apprentices.

"Softkit, please step forward." The warrior called from the top of the branch, fixing his eyes on the small she-cat. Although her fur resembled his mother's, he still looked at her and remember Duskfall when he was Duskpaw, his apprentice. That memory made him smile, sadly.

Once she was in front of him, Jaystream continued the ceremony. At least, his daughter would follow his steps as a warrior. "Softkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Softpaw. Your mentor will be Fogcloud, who is a strong, young and valuable member of our clan. I pray to Starclan he guides you well." Fogcloud had never been a mentor but the deputy decided it was time to give the chance to prove himself. He was loyal and a good tom. Jaystream trusted him.
