Chaos [Closed]

Violetfall padded along the Sunningrocks border, the same place where she had fought Smokewish and her pitiful apprentice only a few sunrises before with Hazelpaw. But since then, Hazelpaw had been hit on the Thunderpath, and Spotfur had nearly drowned her in the river, trying to avenge the damage she had done to Smokewish. With all this weighing on her mind, this patrol was becoming more dreary and lonely by the second.

She stopped abruptly, ears pricked. The scent of RiverClan was getting stronger, and she thought she could hear faint pawsteps. "Who's there?" she called out firmly.

Swanpaw slowly dragged herself to her paws, done lying in the newleaf sun for the moment. Perhaps, before she headed back to camp, she should make sure no ThunderClan cats were attempting to trespass. Still, it wasn't a great concern to her, and she approached the border slowly before hearing a voice.

"Who's there?"

Swanpaw sighed, suddenly realizing that she couldn't just turn around. "What does it matter to you, ThunderClanner?" she asked, trying to shake off her laziness. "I should think the more pressing question is this: Who are you, and what brings you to the border?" Despite her apprentice name and the fact that she was somewhat out of practice, by now she was certainly the age of a younger warrior, and carried a great deal of scars across her body, so she could only hope some level of intimidation was on her side as she stepped forward.

"I'm patrolling the border, like I should be," she retorted. The RiverClanner looked around the age of a warrior, though she couldn't be sure. "You shouldn't be this close to the border. Why don't you move along and catch fish or something?" Violetfall said impatiently. Silently, she was trying to judge whether or not she could take this cat in battle, in case it came to that. Her voice tired, she tried again. "Go home, RiverClanner."

"Why don't you move along and catch fish or something?"

That just about did it. With those words alone, Swanpaw snapped. Perhaps she was out of practice, but... That was exactly what she needed. Practice. And, really, this ThunderClanner was asking for it - so rude to someone who could just as easily be doing exactly what she was supposed to do. Of course she failed to realize her own hypocrisy in thinking that.

"I haven't crossed my side of border, I haven't done anything at all - beyond rightfully questioning your presence this close to the border. I only even came as close as I did because you asked," she pointed out. And, with that said, Swanpaw acted.

Swanpaw used Leap-and-Hold on Violetfall, dealing 6 damage and costin 10 stamina. Violetfall is pinned for 1 turn.

Violetfall grunted as the RiverClanner landed on her. Although she hadn't been injured, the other she-cat's size was prohibiting as she tried to heave her opponent off. She continued to struggle, making her best effort to escape from Swanpaw's grasp.

Swanpaw struggled to hold down the other warrior, who clearly had more experience than she did, but she was holding on as long as she could. Eventually, however, she felt her opponent shift, and lost her grip.

Swanpaw continued using Leap-and-Hold on Violetfall, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina. Violetfall is no longer pinned.

Swanpaw let out a hiss of pain. This wasn't going nearly as well as she had expected... Still, she had to see it through. She. Was. Not. A. Quitter. ...No matter how much her past actions stated otherwise. She swiped at her opponent with her paws, claws unsheathed, unable to think of any strategy.

Violetfall winced briefly as the grey she-cat's claws pierced her pelt. Shrugging away the pain, she lashed out with her paw, striking her opponent. "Have you had enough yet?" she panted. "Go on, RiverClanner. I don't want to hurt you, but I will if I have to." She stared at her intently, hoping that she would stop fighting now. Violetfall was terrified to make the same mistake she had made with Smokewish, and have to deal with even more guilt.
