Hail's Gentle Torrent

Torrentpaw moved in front of Hailpaw and hissed protectively, arching his back and flattening his ears. He was mortified at the thought of her injured. It would be his job to prevent her from taking any more hits, no matter the cost. As soon as he saw the owl preparing for flight, the silver tabby charged at  it with full speed and barreled right into it, knocking it over with as much force as he could muster.

Torrentpaw used Run-and-Tackle, dealing 9 damage (+3 since the opponent wasn't focused on him) and costing 10 stamina.

The owl screeched in pain and surprise. The huge animal could feel its body weakening slowly and it knew it wouldn't survive if it stayed here. So, instead of fighting back, the bird stretched its wings and flew away, leaving the two apprentices far behind.

Hailpaw sighed relieved and with her heart beating fast by the adrenaline. When Torrentpaw jumped in front of her, she worried about him immediately and she was ready to take any hit of the owl to protect him. "Oof... that was close..." She mewed before letting her body fall, exhausted. The open wounds soaked her shoulder and she was starting to feel the pain for that. She hissed, a bit annoyed by those claw marks. Even if she loved Goldeneye as a mother, she didn't like the idea of spending the night inside the medicine den. "I guess we... should go back... Torrentpaw."

Torrentpaw let out a meow of distress when Hailpaw collapsed, immediately thinking the worst (which was something he rarely did). He was immediately by her side, licking the blood from her shoulders in hoped that it would relieve some pain. He should have taken the blow, not her! The silver tabby nosed her over as gently as possible, trying to check for more injuries.

"Go back? Yeah, of course we can do that. I could carry our catches so you could just lean on me without worry. Is that okay with you?" Torrentpaw meowed softly, with an edge of fear in his tone. Who wouldn't be scared, if they just saw their best friend be struck down by an owl?

The she-cat thanked Torrentpaw for the gentle licks he made with a purr and she nuzzled him back. Slowly, she stood up, noticing the pain wasn't as bad as she thought. When the tom offered his help, the she-cat couldn't help to back off a bit. It wasn't like she didn't like Torrentpaw. It was just... since her kit-hood, she hated being dependent on others. Her father overprotected her whole life so she developed a dislike for the idea of others helping her. If she wanted to be strong, Hailpaw had to learn how to do everything on her own. That was what she kept repeating herself her since she was made an apprentice. "I... I can walk alone. The wound isn't so bad... I'm stronger than I look." She mewed with a smile at the end. And, as she said, the calico apprentice started moving slowly but steady, determined to reach the camp on her own. Warriors received worse wounds than hers. She couldn't cry about it like a little kit anymore.

He was slightly hurt but refused to show it. Respecting her wishes, Torrentpaw moved over to their fish and scooped them up in his jaws. He swiftly moved to pad decide her, but left a little space due to her request. 

The silver tabby spared her a few glances to see she was getting along okay. Though her steps seemed to cause a great deal of pain, she remained as graceful as ever. It was funny, really, how he could still see her as beautiful even though it obviously wasn't the right time. A fuzzy feeling formed in his chest the longer he stared at her, so he forced himself to look away and gaze upon the camp coming into view. 

"Hopefully we get to spend more time together, like this, without any owls though," He sighed to himself, increasing his pace a bit, "Maybe then, I could tell you how I really feel."
