So Many Stares.. [Open]

Minkpaw sat towards the outskirts of the camp. She was getting tired of all of the stares that her clanmates kept giving her. She could even see Tatteredleaf staring at her the same way, her own mother. Was it because of the way she looked? The fact that she reminded everyone of that long dead warrior? Couldn't they see she was different from this Specklefang? Green eyes turned down towards the ground. She just wished they would stop.

Forestpaw was grooming herself outside of the apprentices den. She'd been in camp all morning, relaxing in the Newleaf sunshine. She sat down and settled herself into a comfortable position for a nap. When she opened her eyes, she saw Minkpaw, a thunderclan apprentice, sitting near the edge of camp. Forestpaw had always thought Minkpaw as an eager and fun apprentice, but the look on her face looked upset. She stood up and shook herself, clearing the sand and dust from her pelt. She padded over to Minkpaw, "Hey, whats wrong?" She asked with a small smile.

Green eyes looked over at Forestpaw unsure of how to react to the other cat. "Everyone keeps staring at me." Minkpaw said. Why did everyone have to think she was that warrior? They looked alike nothing more! She didn't want to be a grim reminder for everyone. She didn't know if she could take much more of these stares.

The muscular apprentice stalked across the clearing, headed straight for the freshkill pile. Every part of him ached from the effort of the hunt. Per usual, his body was numb from the ache of overexertion. Ever since he had started his training, Eaglepaw had thrown in every ounce of his strength for the good of the clan. There was no time to slow down. As he dropped the decent sized bird he had caught alongside the rest of the prey, his eyes scanned for something smaller. Eventually, they landed on a scrawny mouse. If it weren't for the fact he had been born into and lived with hunger his whole life, the sizeable tom might have winced at the growling in his stomach. It demanded much more, but would not get any until likely when Greenleaf was in full swing.

With the little mouse in his teeth, he then began the search for some worth cats to sit with. Minkpaw was the first he saw. Although she could irritate him at times, mostly due to bits of similar personality traits, he respected her for that along with her effort as an apprentice. His paws began to head towards her. However, they stopped short when he saw Forestpaw. Now, there was a denmate he did not quite get along with. After the incident with that Shadowclan defect, he tried to steer clear of the she-cat. Or, in cases they were forced to be on the same patrol, always outdo her. Eaglepaw hesitated. But, the desire to never back down won out.

He strode over with the undue confidence he always had and placed the mouse at the paws of Sootpaw's sister. Barely sparing Forestpaw a glance, his deep meow broke into their conversation, "Staring at you? What for? I mean you're not a bad looking she-cat, but." It came off a bit rude at first, so he amended his words. There was truth behind them for sure. But, more so, he was confused why the older cats would care for her looks.

Forestpaw sat, looking at Minkpaw. She was trying to think of what to say. She was going to give her a bit of advise, when Eaglepaw approached the two. Forestpaw took notice to the fact that Eaglepaw completely ignored her. She glared at Eaglepaw and then turned back to Minkpaw. "Don't worry Minkpaw. The best way to to deal with this is to ignore them. Stay with the cats who like you for who you are. If they can't see the real you, and just see a warrior you've never met, it's too bad for them" Forestpaw finished, hoping she said the right thing.

Minkpaw let out a small growl. "It is so easy to say. You aren't being the one stared at nor the one that looks like a dead warrior." The she-cat said. Hopefully Eaglepaw could get what she meant just from her response. She didn't like being compared to Specklefang or the fact that she was a murderer. She wasn't going to be like her. Couldn't they see she was different?

Eaglepaw huffed at Forestpaw's words. It seemed she was trying to attempt to say the right thing again. How stupid she was. He pointedly turned away from her and looked at Minkpaw, "It's stupid. You're not Specklefang, you're Minkpaw." The tabby was too young to understand the resemblance to his grandmother. And he found it just as ridiculous that people would liken his denmate to her. Specklefang had been a great Thunderclan warrior before Ivystar had brutally killed her. His claws slid into the softening earth just thinking about it. Not to say that Minkpaw wasn't great, but there was no way she was like Specklefang.

"You know what? Let's get out of here. I'm sure there's something better to do out in the forest and that way everyone can mind their own damn business while we're gone." His tail flicked towards Minkpaw and then the entrance. The whole gesture was meant just for the one she-cat, completely ignoring his other denmate. Without waiting for a response, he nodded and strode towards the forest. Out here, they could get something done. Out here, he could maybe help get Minkpaw's mind off of things. Being overtly caring nor observant was something the apprentice was good at, but he could at least feel the discomfort coming from her. Eaglepaw padded out into the forest and his yellow eyes glanced back to look at her.
