A smokey battle training(closed)

Ivyshade was really busy and didn't have time to train Smokepaw. Smokepaw really didn't mind and got excited when swoopnose said he was going to help. Smokepaw walked into the warrior den and went to swoopnose. "wake up and train me." he said smiling then left the den. He waited by the entrance of camp for him.

"What? Oh, yes, that." Swoopnose jerked awake at Smokepaw's mew. StarClan, was it that time already? Standing up, he quickly stretched out his legs before padding out of the warrior's den. The morning chill was still in the air, and the clouds made it impossible to tell what time it was. Right then, it felt like early morning to his sleep clogged brain. "Good morning Smokepaw, you're up rather early." A greeting was always a good way to start out the day. This was the apprentice he had been asked to train because his mentor was busy. That seemed nice enough, until he remembered what he was teaching. Fighting. Internally he groaned, hoping that everything would be over quickly. It wasn't that he was a bad fighter, on the contrary, he worried that he was too good. Since the skirmish with SkyClan, it had been hard to keep his claws sheathed during practice fights. Hopefully he wouldn't slip up today.

Smokepaw smiled at swoopnose. "ya I'm really excited." he said smiling. "and I can't wait to show sharptooth how well I can fight," he said to himself and looked at swoopnose. "are we gonna train at the sandy hollow or somewhere different?" he asked really curious.

"Well I'm glad you're excited. And yes, I was planning to go to the Sandy Hollow. Let's get going," Swoopnose replied, nothing but his good natured self showing. Dread turned over in his stomach as he imagined what might happen. What if he got caught up in a practice fight and ended up killing young Smokepaw? That would make him a dangerous traitor and a fool. Why did he ever even agree to this? Shaking those thoughts out of his head, he lead the apprentice towards the Sandy Hollow. Best case scenario, he would teach him a few moves, practice with claws on a tree, than have a practice battle with sheathed claws. That was the plan, and hopefully everything would go smoothly.

Smokepaw followed him with excitement. "what are we gonna do first?" he asked as they arrived at the sandy hollow.

(Sorry this is short my teacher is talking)

"First we are going to practice a simple front claw strike," Swoopnose informed Smokepaw matter-of-flactly. Explaining how to fight and demonstrating came with much less stress than an actual practice run. "You just unsheathe your claws and swipe as hard as you can at your opponent. The faster it is, the more power and quantity is dealt, which is best." With those words he swung a set of unsheathed claws at the the trunk of a tree, repeating the action several times until the bark had for the most part fallen off that section. "Now you try."

Smokepaw watche din awww and smiled. He unsheathed his claws and started clawing at the tree. When he was done it looked like the tree was attacked by a dog. "how was that?" he asked.

"That was perfect. Once you feel like you got the hang of it, you can move on to the next attack," Swoopnose explained, padding over to small bush. "The next move is called belly rake. You unsheathed your back claws and claws at you opponent's stomach as hard as you can. Like this, pretending that the bush is an enemy." The warrior suddenly dove under the bush, turning over so his back was lying against the ground. Using his back legs, he shot unsheathed claws upward, slowly destroying the bush from the bottom. Once he felt like he had proved his point, he got back to his paws and looked expectantly at Smokepaw.

Smokepaw watched as he atteacked the bush. "wow that looks hard let me try." he said happily then went to the bush. He went on his back and copied swoopnose. He stood up smiling, his pelt covered in leaves.

"Good job, just try to be a bit neater. Messy strikes don't do as much as neat ones," Swoopnose criticized gently, hoping that Smokepaw wouldn't be offended. But they only had so much time for training, so he couldn't linger on one move for too long. Quickly deciding what to do next, he trotted over to the very center of the hollow. "Once you're ready, try to jump on my back and hold on as well as you can. I'll try to throw you off, but you have to try to stay on. In a real fight, you would be doing the same thing as you did to the tree while doing that, but that isn't necessary right now."

Smokepaw hissed playfully and pounce don his back. "i got you now." he said and clinged onto his fur. He stayed on no matter what would happen.

"Good job," Swoopnose grunted, slightly burdened by Smokepaw's weight. But he could manage, for training purposes. First, he started to gently shake his back, seeing if the repeated movement would loosen the appretice's hold. Before long he started more sudden and violent bucks, as if actually trying his best to throw the young tom off.

Smokepaw was good until he started to do it rough. He fell of swoopnose and landed on his back. "owww. In a real battle I would use my claws to stay on." he said in a matter of fact voice.

"Of course you would. You did a great job, so you should be proud," Swoopnose praised, genuinely proud of Smokepaw. He was a diligent and motivated apprentice who would hopefully become a great warrior someday. Maybe actually able to fight without letting the adrenaline intoxicate him. Taking a deep breath, he realized that it was now time for a sheathed claws practice fight. Nervousness bubbled in his chest, making him start to reconsider. What if he accidentally used his claws? But it was his duty to teach, even if it took too much effort to just force the words out. "We're going to have a practice fight with sheathed claws. You start."

Smokepaw nodded than started to paw at his face. "do I go as hard as I can or no?" he asked and accidentally took his guard off of the fight.
